Would you hire Coach O, knowing you'd be picking your interim replacement?

If he keeps the ship afloat as he did with USC, coaches may shy away from hiring the guy who'll give their AD the confidence to pull the trigger (knowing, "We've got Coach O to get us through the season.").

If he finishes up 6-2 or better and Herman don't want the job, I would say hire him

Coach O is worth what you are implying, but most coaches aren't big weenies that worry about this kind of stuff. These coaches are confident. The thread is the predicable thought of fans.
