BTW, I spent six of the best years of my life as a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland and in those years, the student section was more vulgar and drunk as hell.

Maybe the administration will be lightening up on certain banned songs soon...

At least their student section is filled.
The average Wisconsinite weighs 380 lbs. it only takes about 50 students to fill that section.

So Geaux Tigers, Geaux Tigers, Kick Their arse is encouraged? Or is it long overdue to kill the first down song?

15,000 students chant "Kick their Arse", while 70,000 older, LSU fans chant "LSU". The 70,000 drown out the student section unless you are sitting right next to the student section. I really don't think the "tv issue" is as big as some may want to make it, but on that topic, you can not hear "kick their arse" on tv after LSU first downs.

You most certainly can depending on which camera they are using.

No, the Administration, LSU Alumni, LSU fans, etc. would PREFER that 18-22 year old adults ACT LIKE adults, instead of middle school students

amen. sure, getting drunk and making up chants and songs are cool but why do the chants have to be so crude, vulgar and debase. it is a sign of immaturity and low character. i have been told "that's the way it is these days" but it doesnt have to be. most decent people see this behavior as acting like animals; ie no class. wouldn't it be novel and classy to come up with a cheer that is clever using the thousands of words in our language that are available w/o vulgarity. by doing so, the occasional four letter word would actually have more impact.

Threads like these are part of why STTDB will continue for quite a while.

When have you ever heard the STTDB chant without a song being played by the band?

The student section may try to start this on their own now, but it definitely won't be "cued up" by the band.

Didn't they do it this weekend? I remember hearing the chant late in the game, but I don't seem to remember it being a part of any particular song.

Regardless, I can't see how anyone, student and non-student alike, can't understand that the vulgar chants reflect poorly on the university. The same goes for Wisconsin, or any other fanbase that does so. As such, the university administration has a vested interest is trying to curb behavior that puts the school in a bad light.

From day one, the chant has neither been clever nor funnny. Same with the "F You (team/person)" It really is like a bunch of 8 year olds laughing at themselves because they're saying "bad words" while their parents aren't around. Just walking around campus on game days and being in the stands, you get the sense that many people today (not just 18-22 year old students) feel that just because they are at a football game they have free reign to leave all civility behind and be complete assholes to others all in the name of "I'm just being a great fan."

Case in point, this past weekend 3 UF fans sat a few rows in front of me. They weren't obnoxious, didn't block anyone's few, and seemed to be polite to the people directly around them. Nevertheless, there were several LSU fans hurling unprovoked vulgar insults at them throughout the game (not just good natured barbs). I'd imagine these same LSU fans in everyday life are probably ok people. However they feel that just because they're at a football game, the can be a dick to everybody else.

You old people clearly just don't remember the chants yall used to do. There was a thread on it a while back. Way more than the "occasional" four letter word.

all we're good for is lowering the crime rate, paying the taxes, providing shelter, clothing, food, transportation and giving our children everything their little hearts desire. we do this so our prodigy can turn on us and be immature ingrates in our older years. we are just terrible people.

I'm gonna have to go with my grandma' sold standard in this one. If everyone else was jumping off the Mississippi River bridge, would you?

Just because there are other, arguably more classless, student sections doesn't mean LSU's has to be. Or should the students engage in an unofficial war with Wisconsin to see who can be more vulgar?

Sure, our student section has a history of vulgarity, and even racists chants. But times change. ISTTDB is over the line, just like the FU Spurrier and Tebow chants, and You suck cock to teams other than USC were in my time.

Plenty of young people do all that too. Nice mentality though.

You're terrible narcissists who can't spell progeny, apparently.

The students aren't hurting anyone or anything by using colorful language at college football games. Get the bug out of your arse, gramps.

Old people are also really good at bitching about the "participation trophy generation" without acknowledging that they were the ones who handed out those trophies in the first place. Bunch of confused, grumpy asses who are angry that others are having a better time than they are.
