quentin thomas has had some bight spots this year. I like him and lacoutore. Also, expect Herron to play a ton. I'd actually like to see him at DE. I"m tired of having these tiny "pass rushing" d ends.

People put too much stock in rankings. I don't think Miles has done a good job of addressing needs, JMO.

That kind of proves my point.

This is true. We have been missing on top talent, and got lucky with underrated guys in the past.

If Ego and Freak leave early, we are totally screwed. Any talk about getting a JUCO guy?

Ego and Freak have not been very good or even come close to reasonable expectations this season. Both are looking at 3-4 round at best, and would be smart to come back and improve their game and draft stock. With that being said, I won't be severely upset if they leave, and hope that the next group will develop into more than those two have at this point.

Some of the negative hyperbole about our recruiting is really ridiculous rants.

While our DTs have not made as many penetrating plays with pressure as compared to previous years, it's the poor MLB play that has made them look worse than reality.

I am actually excited about Defensive Tackle next year. If Anthony Johnson and Ego Ferguson come back they will have that much more experience.

I am also excited about Lacouture. I have seen him push the offensive lineman in front of him several times. He doesn't even try to make the tackle, just beat the guy in front of him. He has that meat eater attitude that we need at Defensive tackle. Like the others said, he is a true freshman. Experience and strength are going to turn this guy into a sharknado.

Welter pretty much made our oline, d line, punter, DBS, and TEs suck this year. Oh and linebackers

I totally agree that we are not getting top notch recruits -- Bain, Lacouture and Gilmore were not can't miss prospects like A'Shawan at Bama, guys at Auburn and even Golden and other guy that went to TX AM. We have to step up the DL recruiting if we want to be dominant in the SEC. Its so obvious that this is our weakness. If Johnson and Ego leave, we have Thomas who hasn't done a lot yet and Mickey who is a Tulane caliber player. Talent is not there.

Well if that is the case it just spotlights other issues. Look I know all the pumpers are going to say you can't get them all "yep I realize that" and they will also say it is still early and they have time to flip this guy "I realize that also."

But another high profile in-state recruit leaving the state in a position we are supposed to thrive at in recruiting in-state talent. 2015 TD Moton-DT #4 recruiting in La committing to MSU are you freaking kidding me!!!! Come on Les step up your fricking game!!! Only positive takeaway is that he didn't commit to Bama.

I refuse to believe that defensive line will be a weak spot for this team beyond this season. The D-line coach knows what he's doing. His track record speaks for itself.

As for getting "lucky" with underrated guys ... Would it have been better had the staff taken a pass on Honey Badger and Claiborne because they weren't four stars? Come on. If they had gone somewhere else, we'd all be ripping the staff for failing to find the state's "hidden gems."

Do we have to continue calling him that, even if his play this year left much to be desired?

IMO, it's not for a lack of raw talent. We're simply not developing their skills. Detillier noted in DandyDon that Freak doesn't know how to use his hands. I find that disturbing. A 3rd yea player who still doesn't know the basics of DL play.

quote's like this always amaze me. So Haley can develop a three star benny logan, a four star d.e. brockers but he can't develop a five star tackle in freak. He taught them how to use their hands but not freak.

Here is a thought, maybe anythony isn't good. maybe, just maybe, it's anythony and not the coach.
