The SECs only shot for an NC is Bama this year and they do not want to miss the last shot of the BCS era.

A one loss Auburn would play for the title IMO.

Not without some help, imo.

They'll easily overtake any other 1 loss if they were to win out..but undefeated FSU/Oregon won't be jumped.

In 2011 the game was called very well. As was 2012.

both teams were still in somewhat of a position to make great headway in the post season in both of those seasons. So a loss wasn't "detrimental". however in '08 (when McCarron crawled across the line on 4th goal in overtime in DV to win) and the horrific '09 game when a loss would've been detrimental to Bama going to the SECCG and possibly the BCSCG ... shady calls are made

I knew LSU would lose after the official badly spotted the ball after a JJ run at the beginning of the game. LSU had a first down but the official spotted the ball a full yard short of the first down mark resulting in 4th down.

The officials went out of their way to help Bama - as usual.

Its been a common occurrence throughout the years.

I'm surprised anyone remembers this play.

The refs literally set the tone on the third play of the game. Ended up being a 3 and out.

I quit watching that game after JJ got speared in front of bug eyes and no call was made. There is even a nice picture of that still out on the web, along with several other pics of facemasks that were never called. If I remember correctly as well, RJ Jackson made a big play, nearly got his head ripped off, and nothing was called.

2009 was a blatant screw job. Oh well. The SEC got what it wanted in the end. That's all that matters. The physical well being of the players in the "lesser" programs is irrelevant.

People can say what they want, but if you dont think the SEC knows that they make more money winning another NC you're delusional. I personally dont think the refs services will be needed, but I can assure you Bama will not have a holding call to LSUs half dozen. We will also likely have a targeting penalty and ejection (Id bet money this happens) and it wouldnt surprise me to see a TO overturned via replay.

We have so many cry babies as fans. Go to 3:30 of the link below and you will see that we got one of the biggest breaks of all times in this series. I actually felt bad for winning the 2004 game because of this play. Probably one of the worse missed calls of all time in any game.

Bigosports so give Bama 7 pts. They still lose by 9! Even so There was no way the Bama guy would have caught that ball any way. Hardly a game changer.

In that same game JJ scrambled for 9 yds on 3rd and 9 on LSU's opening drive. The refs somehow placed the chains 1 yd away from the 1st down marker.

That year Bama had 239 plays before they had a holding penalty! Please. Yes the Sec comm. & ref's hang on Saban's balls every year!!! Won't change as long as Saban stays there.

If the tables were turned, I'm certain you would consider it a game changer. We've benefited from calls like every team does. We've been hurt by bad calls like every team has.

Not saying its not a bad call. Not a game changer though. Ball was uncatchable to Bama. Bama may or may not have scored on that drive. LSU would have still worn out Bama defense.
The other difference is that the refs back was turned to the push off. It's not like he saw it and did nothing. It wasn't a lets F#%^ Bama call. Just a blown call.

Play wouldn't have mattered. LSU got throttled in every facet of that game. They were lucky to escape with a 9 point loss.

I have to agree, it didn't matter. It gave Bama an extra 3 pts it didn't deserve but that play doesn't bug me bc there is just no way LSU's awful offense was going to do anything more than punt.
