The Wisconsin fans I've seen here and on other forums are actually pretty realistic and not douches like Clemson/Oregon/TCU fans.

SEC/ACC and some B12 fans are by far the worst trolls. Outside of Ohio State, most B1G fans are far more realistic and civil. College football doesn't have the same sidewalk following up there.

Their board is really shitty in terms of design. You would think for "academic blowhards" they would have something better. I don't see a whole lot of trolling coming from them.

You think Wisconsin fans are academic blowhards?

I'm your huckleberry… Kind of. Smack talk is not really what UW football is all about. We were so bad for so long that we don't have anywhere near the ingrained arrogance that you would expect from a top 20 program. Most Badger fans still remember the days when a 54-3 beat down was the norm when we played a blue blood helmet school. As a result UW really puts an emphasis on the 'fun' part of gameday. The actual game is second to the party for many. We had to do something to entertain ourselves during the many decades when 5 wins was a solid season.

Furthermore we know what we got and how the game is going to go. It will be a close, smash mouth contest until late when one of the teams will make a play to win it, probably LSU. That is how every game against a decent team has gone for us for the last 5 years. The bowl game against USC last year was our first loss by more than 7 points since 2010 (34-24 MSU on a late TD) and that would have been much closer if our QB didn't get knocked out of the game partway through the 3rd quarter. Contrary to popular *cough* espn *cough* belief, we have played some legit top teams in that span and we played every single one of them tight into the last 5 minutes of the game. This game will be similar. Everyone in Wisco knows that on paper LSU should win easily, but paper ain't worth jack out on the field. UW has outplayed its recruiting rankings for two decades now. Every time we play a top 20 team we are told repeatedly how we don't have the athletes or the talent to keep up, how we will be shocked, SHOCKED by the speed of whichever southern/western team we are playing. Then we play the game and wouldn't you know it, we can play a little ball in the North Woods too.

We don't have the recruiting rankings or the deep history to fall back on (and we are Midwesterners, humble is in our blood) so you won't see a lot of smack talk. We let our play do the talking for us. I think most Badger fans are expecting a close loss but none of us would be that shocked if we pull out the W. Gordon is the real deal and he may be able to balance out our passing deficiencies somewhat. I think we are also counting on the LSU players doing what most LSU fans are doing and underestimating UW quite a bit and we are hoping to be able to capitalize on that early in the season. We'll see. Good luck to you all and let's hope for a great, injury free game!
