Still, anyone who says Wisc players don't work hard is trolling. I can't think of another team except maybe TCU whose players work harder on fundamentals and make the most of the talent they have.

I'd love to come out this season like we did against VT in 2007, just curbstomp a pretty good team. Huge hits everywhere. Turnovers forced. Big offensive plays.

That game was awesome, everything went our way. Just felt like nobody could beat us the way we played that day.

That's why I asked if he was a gopher fan. There aren't many of them, but the ones that are committed certainly don't like UW (for obvious reasons...being facilities, tradition, recent history, recruiting, culture, atmosphere, etc etc).

My best friend is a cake eater born and bred. He isnt a fan of the badgers and thus I am a little biased.

I dont think its what you listed since they claim 7 NC and yall claim 1

I think its the accents, which actually bug me more than him.

I'd be curious to see a poll of college football fans from across the country responding to the question "who has a better football history, Minnesota or Wisconsin?"

If Minnesota got 10% of the vote, I'd be absolutely floored. And frankly, I think I, and most people born in the last fifty years, tend to put a little bit more weight on success achieved after we landed on the moon (or hell, WWII). But that's just me.

ETA: I'm not familiar with the term "cake eater".

I really dislike that Gophers fans tout those National Titles. I'm not sure there is a single person in that fan base that was alive for those first six National Championships. I'd imagine, most of their fans with recollection of their Title in 1960, are close to dead.

Without question, Gophers fans hate Wisconsin fans because of the last two decades. Not only is Wisconsin on a 12-game winning streak over Minnesota, they've also won 19 of the last 21. GopherHole hates it. Just hates it. Not only has Wisconsin made itself into a perennial Top-25 program, while Minnesota is a below-average B1G team, Wisconsin is knocking on the door of being an elite program in basketball (if they aren't there already) while Minnesota is a bottom-dweller.

While I hope we come out and whip Wisconsin like we did VT, that wasn't the first game of the 2007 season.....

ETA: I've stated multiple times that I think we beat them by more than 20 points. I think we come out and set the tone early and the game is never in doubt.

And pretty much anyone who is worth recruiting from the state of Minnesota is waiting on a Wisconsin offer before settling for Minnesota's.

Same could be said for Wisconsin's lone NC in 42

Yeah that definitely is a very big reason.

The changes at the top of the UW hockey program were long overdue. No way UW shouldn't be a consistent to 10 team.

But that being said, if we're using the Gopher logic, UW is the superior program as we have more nattys.

Absolutely not

If we use Wisky logic then its Minnesota bc they have the dominant head to head overall advantage.

Exactly. Each fanbase uses the measures that suit their team (head to head, winning seasons, final fours, national championships, etc).

That's why I usually like to use the "who would the average fan say has a better program" measure. So the average fan would absolutely say Minnesota hockey (as would I).

But regardless, eff the gophers. They are irrelevant to me and college athletics (outside of hockey and wrestling).

This question would depend on the demographic you ask. As an older college football fan, I would vote Minnesota all day. For the younger fans who think college football started in 2000's would probably say Wisconsin. Not trying to take away from Wisconsin's accomplishments but Minnesota was a dominant program long before Wisky was.

No offense taken. I guess the demographic that matters the most (to me at least) is the one that was alive to experience said history. As such, more recent history would be more heavily weighted. The second "sub-demographic" would be the kids we're recruiting, and we know where they'd land on that question.

The weather is a hurdle for sure. Hell, I grew up in Green Bay and I'd rather play in warm weather
