but our defense is awful. Why would we want to start the game with our worst unit on the field?

Too many people here trying to outthink themselves. If we win the toss, put your best unit on the field to start the game strong. And this year, it's our offense.

It's a joke from a while back about a thread that was like 10 pages of people arguing over what defer really meant.

Calm down brother.

You have that critical mass needed to understand the concept. To the others the thread does not make sense. The worst thread of the day. Yada yada yada.

Isn't it funny that nearly every NFL game begins with the coin toss winner electing to play offense, yet this trend evades college ball?

I agree with you. I fear that if Bama gets the ball first, they will easily march down the field and score 7. And LSU's Balloon begins to deflate.
And the Rout is on . . .

I want my D out there 1st. Show them we can stop them on the 1st drive of the game and its sets a greater example of what LSU can do the whole night. That would take the crowd out of the game more. Esp if we get the ball and somehow score.

I go with our O against their D. Our chances of scoring on them is greater than our chances of stopping them from scoring.

I would agree with this if the plan were to come out blazing, but more than likely Les will want to establish a physical, methodical tone which will end up in a punt.

Which has a chance of performing better? Bama O against our D or our O against Bama's D? I go with our O against their D. Our chances of scoring on them is greater than our chances of stopping them from scoring.

Yes, take the ball and score on the Bamsters early! And, then, often ... We can do this! Nick just said that "LSU has a very good team." Let's show him that we enjoy "a damn fine football team." Beat Bama's arse!

no, i always want the ball in the 2nd half. it allows both teams to potentially have a slow start.. which tends to happen..

i love the security in knowing my team gets the ball in the 2nd half.. whether we are up or down.

I see your point there. Hopefully that wont be the case. The offense must be super aggressive in this game. But you are right, with Les you never know,

Actually, we don't even want to give Satan Saban a crack at mustering a scoring drive on Bama's very first drive of the game! Neaux, neaux, neaux!

That is the last thing we want to start the game. We need to hit them in the freeking mouth by scoring on our opening drive of the game. And be aggressive, not conservative doing it. Let them know upfront these Tigers came to win this game Gumps. Get ready for a war!
