This is a quote from an article in The Advocate on the Arkansas game...
quote:

“Obviously, extremely, extremely disappointed,” Wade said. “I’m proud of our guys. We played well, we played extremely hard, we limited our turnovers, we made our free throws."

We did a really nice job on the offensive glass and the glass in particular, but we just weren’t solid enough defensively down the stretch.”

It's been pretty easy to criticize the team lately and I'm as guilty of it as anyone. But, one thing about this team, they're scrappy as hell and they never give up. If we are looking for positives heading into the postseason, that is definitely going to be a positive. A scrappy team like this can steal a game that they really shouldn't won on a neutral floor.

The NCAA Tournament is all about the draw and if LSU can even get a decent seed, winning a game or two is certainly possible if they play as hard as they did on the road vs Arkansas.

I’m not hating on Wade, that’s just a snippet of many things he said.. however, playing hard shouldn’t really be something to be praised, that is just a prerequisite. Like these spots on SEC college basketball or whatever sports teams are coveted positions. If you ain’t playing hard then get to stepping

LSU can beat any team in the country because they are extremely athletic, scrappy as you said, and they create so many turnovers.

LSU reaching the sweet 16 would not surprise me at all

Go Tigers

On this we agree and I'm still all in on WW. But that's long been true for me, playing hard should be understood and if you don't play hard we can put someone else in who will.

Like Chris Rock says - you don't get a cookie for doing what you're supposed to do.

But this team does play hard - it's why we almost and should have won that game the other night despite our offensive woes against the hottest team in the SEC in a hostile and live arena.

And the free throws, rebounds and improvement on turnovers are hopefully things we can carry over.

I think Wade is feeling the heat and trying to spin things as positively as possible. He's not in bad shape, but definitely needs to have an improved team next year.

He's basically trying to put a positive spin on things and its not going well.

No, it doesn’t sound anything like O. If you listened to the entire presser, he pointed areas that had improved, free throws, offensive rebounding, and areas that still needed to be addressed, smarter decisions and better defense in the 6-minute game. He never said “we’re going to fix that in practice.”

ETA. If you have watched this team consistently this year and know anything about basketball, you would realize that Wednesday was one of the better games we’ve played, especially in SEC play. Arkansas is one of the hottest teams in the country and just beat two top 10 teams on that same court.

I don’t believe in moral victories, but like the way this team is playing right now.

Scrappy don't pay the bulldog, sweetie. What we need is talent, discipline and toughness. In other words, a new coach. No more gangstas.

Last couple games, I've seen a little improvement from Gaines with regards to staying under control. I hope that continues.
For this team to have a chance in the Tourney, we must shoot better. Pinson has been shooting bad as has Murray. Pinson, I don't believe, just isn't a good shooter. But, I believe Murray is. He must be struggling with his hand.
Eason and Days and our defense will give us a chance most nights. Just need someone else to step up.
I wouldn't write this team off as they will be a tough out for someone.
If we end up an 8/9 seed, I wouldn't want to be a 1 seed and draw them for sure.

sounds like he can't fix it then or has he completely ignored that in practice?

He alluded to playing smarter and cleaner multiple times. And specifically about finishing better. I thought his comments were honest and spot on. Despite the loss, if they play like they did for 90% of these past 2 games, the rest of the season should be fun to watch.

Well, two weeks ago free throws and rebounding were the problem. Last two games those issues have been remedied.

So no, we are making progress in areas.

Unlike O, who would just keep repeating, “we gonna fix dat in practice dis week.” And nothing changed.

So you think "scrappy" is better than tough, disciplined basketball. Okay. Next time we play please ask your husband to explain the game to you.

Actually that has been one of the big criticisms of this team. There have been a handful of games this year where players looked totally uninterested.

WW is so much like Ed O that it's ridiculous and y'all can't see it.

Wade runs from fire to fire putting them out, while new fires start. Just like Ed O. Without better bench assistants, he's just a great recruiter.

He's got another year or two to show what he can do. I still think he can do it but he seems to be at an impasse.

While I agree playing hard is not something to praise, it is significant to our team. There has been a lot of adversity with injuries, and the team continues to give it their all. Even though there will be times when we lose, it will not be due to a lack of effort.

I won’t rehash his 5 yr tenure here, but it’s LSU best stretch in 25 years.
If Covid wouldn’t not have canceled 2020 season this would be 4 consecutive years in the NCAA tournament. He inherited a shite sandwich when he got here. And he doesn’t even have a coaches office in the basketball facility. The team watches film on the practice court.
Could you imagine the football team watching film on the ponderosa before practice.
He might have his best roster next year if Allen reclassifies.
I’m not sure what exactly he’s doing wrong here?

Haven't you paid attention to LSU fans in general? If he's not making the final four every year he's garbage. Even then, there would be plenty that would still want him gone because he can't close it out in the final 4 .

Actually no. Wade isn't being judged any more harshly than Orgeron or Miles were. And they won national championships.

He's a recruiter, a very good one. He's not the best at floor management which will be his downfall.
