Will the LSU defense be ready for all the crossing routes Leach will throw at them?

I hope the LBs and safeties are getting their communication skills sharpened. Leach is coming after you guys. You are the weak link. Get ready.

"Communion" might be exactly what they need

Hopefully 2 things happen. First, Ward comes back. That should help with some of the bust issues.

Second, since State hardly ever runs, just play a Dime defense with one MLB. I think we will see a lot of zone too to keep everything in front of the defense. This also gets Stingley more involved since he’s not just locked up on a man that the QB avoids all game. We saw that vs CMU.

I hope that Jones, Raymond, (GOAT DB Coach according to the Rantknockers) and Baker are coaching them up this week.

They're not going to figure it out by themselves.

Without Casanovarehagehuntsteltz Jr. (Langlois) in the lineup yelling the correct assignments and coverages, it's a crap shoot.......

They did an excellent job of it this week.

Despite everyone melting down, there was really only 2 bad plays the starters allowed all night on defense. The blown coverage on the TD and a 15 or so yard run up the middle because a certain linebacker filled the wrong hole. They’re starting to get things figured out.

Apparently leach can’t coach offense anymore per several posters since his team lost to Memphis.

I wouldn’t worry about it. LSU should win by 3 touchdowns based on how shitty msu is according to what I’m reading here.

I mean hell, MSU lost to Memphis for goodness sake. LSU should crush them

Probably not.....but Orgeron will say, « We need to coach them better, it’s on me... »

Orgeron’s amateurish remarks are not going to spare his eventuality. Many want new leadership. His incompetence is really embarrassing and unacceptable.

No. 2 years in a row IF LSU tries to go tempo. Better shorten this game by running the shite out of the ball and using clock or they are screwed. Need some old school Les shite this weekend.

You have to mix it up. If Leach knows you are playing zone every play he’ll have his guys search for the holes and sit in them. If he knows you are in man he’ll run rub routes constantly.

What makes Leach so hard to defend is that he teaches his receivers to recognize the defense and choose routes accordingly. I would run matchup zones and then fake zones by matching up with receivers for about three steps - long enough for them to choose a man route - then find your zone.

If you make Leach dink and dunk eventually you will sack him, or a lineman will bat the ball, or something else bad will happen to them.

Exactly. A dime defense would get shredded 50% of the time with our Safety play if we scheme with 3 Safteies or if we played 4 CBS. It would be a disaster if we played zone and man would be worse in a Dime package. The bad thing about going up against the air raid is the middle of the field needs to be fundamentally sound. We have to play nickel with mixed coverages and send the beef after the QB. With the way the DLine is playing we should be blitzing a lot more. A delayed LB blitz would be deadly behind a Smith/Roy stunt.

Our strength this year is D line. We need to have them putting pressure early and often. That's the way to outmatch the air raid. By giving them no time. My prediction is that they'll score some, buy we'll make some plays on defense. I look for the score to be a 35-27 to 36-30. I think we'll generate some turnovers.

I like the idea, just mix up different zone and man coverage but let’s play mostly zone. We create turnovers and big hits playing zone
