I honestly believe KT2 is gonna be that shut down badass next year. Secondary going to be stupid. But hard for me to say something is going to be better than what we saw Tyrann do.

Would love for someone like Jackson take that role. This defense is going to be really fun to watch. Could have multiple all Americans

Coverage wise I think we can be as good and maybe as good against the run but I doubt we see a playmaker like Mathieu again and that'd be the difference.

2011 had a Heisman finalist and Jim Thorpe winner in the secondary. 2016 may be great but wont be as good

With white back and kt4 locking it down...

This is huge. Especially since Toliver has a full year of starting experience. White was locking down receivers before the injury

Throw in Paris, Jefferson and basically 3 five stars coming in..(savion Smith, Fulton and Monroe)...

You're forgetting about Jamal Adams, Donte Jackson, Corey Thompson(who started 3 games last season), Battle(showed potential), Dwayne Thomas (first season back from injury.

Plus incoming freshman Greedy Williams, who has 5 star potential, and Cameron Lewis who is an all around beast football player.

Secondary stacked.

Mathieu, Reid, Brooks and Claiborne.
. That wasn't the starting secondary in 2011. But 3 of 4 isn't bad. Well...yes, it is.

I can tell you this, LSU returns 3 great corners and a great safety. I think Tolliver moves to safety when we have four DBs. Donte Jackson is just too good to not be on the field.

I think that Tre White, Donte Jackson, Toliver, and Adams could give Reid, Taylor, Matheiu, and Mo a run for their money. But I'll give the nod to 2011 because of the intangibles that the Honey Badger brought.

Yes the OP left out Simon,Taylor, and Loston as well.
And don't forget Ron Brooks. He played Sunday ball, too, and filled in pretty nicely when Honey Badger took his, um, "break" midseason.

ETA: Nevermind. Didn't notice that the OP listed Brooks among the starters.

Not unless honey badger has some eligibility left that we didn't know about. Not saying they won't be good but that group was lightning in a bottle. Magic.

Coverage wise? Probably.

The only thing you can't factor is just how much the honey badger changed field position for us on so many ways.

Our 2010 secondary owns our 2011 secondary. The difference is that 2011 secondary had a dline where the backups were nfl starters. 2010 dline wasnt close to our 2011 dline

OP didn't even mention Jamal Adams. He's by far our best DB

I love Adams, and I think he will be the leader of the secondary. But he has yet to be the play maker\ball hawk\turnover machine that the honey badger was.

Again, overall, I think the coverage of this years DB's will be at an all time high. It was asked to be compared to the 2011 DB unit, which had one of the best turnover machines NCAAF has seen in some time.

Neither has anyone else in the history of college football at that position...

which is why "IMO" this years DB's will be good, but not 2011 good.
