In his post game comments Saban said LSU plays old school football meaning 70s offense. He said Alabama recruited to build a team for that kind of football because that is how it used to be in SEC but with spread and read option offenses it is hard to play that brand of football. It looks like Alabama offense is in transition to spread offense. I think until LSU adopts a new offensive philosophy we won't see BH as preferred QB because AJ is sufficient for the type of offense Miles wants to run. What do you think?

I think we want to run more of a new age pro style system. I think we want to be able to line up in shotgun more often, and i think we want to add some read option plays.

Think Seahawks, but more under center.

Been running the same exact shite since 2009.

I don't expect a wholesale change in 2015

get accustomed to QBs throwing for 75 yards in the seasons biggest games

Next HC might change the offense. Not this HC.

Absolutely. There offense is exactly what we want to run IMO. I wanted to post that earlier in the year (when they were undefeated) but figured I'd just get a bunch of dumbasses saying "you are comparing us to the best team in the NFL?!?!?"

If bama ran the ball more they might have beat LSU straight up regulation with no zebra help needed. Just my opinion. I was shocked they didn't smash it more.

God I hope not. It is a terrible offense that is only capable of championships with Heisman caliber QBs, sometimes not even then.

Nick Marshall says hi.

And before you bag on him for this weekend. If it wasn't for the AU offense, they would win 6 games this year and wouldn't of played for the NC last year.

I can agree with that, but LSU obviously isn't there yet. Part of being a good coach is putting your players in the best position to utilize their skillset. Even if it isn't necessarily your usual "style". LSU doesn't do that. They have a system in place and will try to make guys "fit" within that system.

Gary Patterson (a defensive coach) talked about needing to change his offense to adapt to his players and the Big 12. He did it. In one year he has taken a pretty bad QB in Boykin and made him a Heisman contender all because they switched to an offense that fit him better.

Saban has even moved away from what he usually likes to do. LSU continues their usual ineffective system. Every coach in the SEC knows it. The Miss. St. DC said as much when comparing LSU to Ark. His comment was that Ark., even though a power running team, has deception in the way they go about. With LSU "you know exactly what they're going to do."

Against the 4 best teams on the schedule this year LSU has managed the following

MSU - 3 points (until late when MSU was trying to run out the clock)
AU - 7 points
OM - 10 points
Bama - 13 points (including one drive that started at Bama's 7 yardline)

It's sickening to watch the defense COMPLETELY turn things around, while LSU's offensive approach continues to stay stuck in the mud.

Last night heard Tubberville say very hard to evaluate high school qbs for pro style offense and then takes couple of years to develop. Much easier to move from high school to college with spread. This is why teams are moving this way. LSU ' S qb woes seems to support this.

My only issue with the offense is if you're going to be so committed to the Pro-Style then recruit QBs that can run that offense. Don't go get guys that have done nothing but run the spread and expect them to know how to drop back and read defenses and run play-actions from under center.
