We're a baseball school more than basketball.

Then you're part of the problem.

PMAC will have to be virtually empty (1000 or less) for Alleva to take notice.

People want to be entertained and they're not. LSUAD just doesn't "Get It." They seem totally oblivious to what people want. (Have to listen to that obnoxious music before the game too, like in Tiger Stadium)

Gymnastics now outdraws Basketball. Think about that...................

Until he is gone, LSU will be a bottom-dweller in arguably the easiest of the Power 5 conferences.

It might help if you got your facts straight before you start becoming a basketball prophet. Here is Jones SEC record year by year:

2012-13 9-9 SEC 8th place out of 14 teams
2013-14 9-9 SEC 6th place
2014-15 11-7 SEC 3rd. Place
2015-16 11-7 SEC 3rd. place

So out of 14 teams he has never finished lower than 8th place which was in his first season before he had a chance to recruit. So LSU has not exactly been a "bottom dweller" since he has been here.

Everybody wants to win championships and go to the NCAA tournament but if you ask me whether I would rather have a team that finished in 3rd place in conference or one that truly did finish in the bottom. Well it seems self evident to me.

Yes, I understand how bad a taste last year's team left in everyone's mouth because of all the bad publicity and not making the tournament. But this year's team was written off last year before they even played an exhibition game. Now they are 5-2 and have done fairly well except for the blowout against Wichita State.

Perhaps they will not play well after the exam break but who knows? Give them a chance and let's see how they do. I do know that CJJ has managed to get some talented players here which is not an easy task. Reath, Victor, Blakeney, Sampson, Epps and others on the team have ability. Basketball is a crazy game which is why it can be so exciting at times.

Sometimes the shots just won't fall or the ball bounces the wrong way. But sometimes things go right and you have another win. I will hope for that even if the rest of you just want to fire the coach.

You want to spend 7 Million for a Coach like Duke and Kentucky and then sit on the Sofa and watch as a Coach making 2 Million a year wins the NC!!

As long as CTS has any influence, the present LSU administration wil not go out and find the best coach available for LSU.

Who is this guy Sandsbury or who ever and why does he want to coach LSU. Would he be a good replacement?

and it used to be a huge money maker in the '80's. Men's Basketball is the only other significant money making sport in college outside of football. At least at LSU baseball sorta takes care of itself.

Alleva will probably hire Randy Livingston after Johnny Jones gets fired. Randy meets all of Joe's requirements, he's cheap, he's from louisiana and he talks like us. All Randy needs is to do hire good assistants and recruit and it will all work out just fine.

Who in their right mind wants Alleva making another coaching hire?

Let's get him out of there and find a great AD first.

LSU really needs a visionary like Emmert at President first and foremost.

The entire administration is a disgrace at LSU from the BOS on down the ladder.

Let' hold off on applauding too hard for Jones SEC records. The SEC is arguably the weakest of the major conferences in recent basketball history. Except for the top 2 or 3 teams, a top half position in SEC would be bottom half in ACC, Big 10 and Big 12 many years. I would rather be top half than bottom half in SEC, but we should aspire for more!

Our OOC schedule should be largely in Jones control after 4 years on the job. We should have a harder schedule to test the team and provide a resume to make the tournament. Our win loss record is thus inflated each year.

We should measure our coaches success on tournament appearances and advancement at the end of the day.

I continue to support the team regardless of the coach, but do believe it is time to improve at the head coach position if we aspire for more.

We had a coach who was fired 10 years ago 18 months after he was in the final four with his best two players hurt the whole season. 10 years later the best year we have had since was with his healthy players. Kermit Davis would be a perfect fit here at LSU next year. I was pulling for JJ and thought he would be good here, but like Les was and is to hard headed to accept help from the bench coach. All things equal in the conference with exception of Kentucky, it comes down to coaching. We will see how this season works out, but up to this point looks like the same verse as before. Lots of talent with no defense and rebounding. Lets see

No I was just pointing out an inaccurate statement and suggesting it could be worse. I was an LSU basketball fan in Trent's 2nd. and 3rd. years. People tend to forget how bad it had gotten.

Do I want better? You bet. Do you think the fans of the 9 or 10 SEC teams that had a worse record want better? If the product on the court was so bad, how did we win all of those games? Like the football team we prevailed because we had good players that were poorly coached?

Who brought those players here? And unlike football, Louisiana is not a hotbed of basketball talent that can produce great players every year. Trent was probably a better game day coach than Johnny but he couldn't recruit to save his you know.

I think it's been proven that a team of good players poorly coached can beat a team of poor players who are coached better.

I'm just trying to bring some fairness to the discussion. If CJJ falls on his butt this year then he will probably be fired and I will support it. Just give him a chance until that happens.

There were several games last year where we were embarrassed but they weren't home games at the Assembly Center. To make sure I just looked at the schedule from last year.

We lost to Wake Forest by 6 points. Oklahoma by 2, and Alabama by 9. Those were our only losses at home. None of them were embarrassments. Conversely we beat Kentucky by 18. Attendance at that game was 13,573. By contrast the Houston game was supposedly 6,695 in our latest game at the PMac. That would have made the arena half full which it sure didn't look that way.
