What?

Have you watched LSU football since 2005? What would make any fan who knows anything about football think Miles always has the best player ahead of the lesser player on a depth chart?

What would make anyone think he'd intentionally play a guy who he knew wasn't the best player on the roster over someone he knew to be better?

I was not questioning their intentions, I was questioning their past decisions.

I believe that Miles will continue to start Harris even if Etling has a better camp, completely understands the playbook and has teammate support even if Harris has a mediocre to poor game in GB. That is not criticism, just an opinion based on experience watching Miles coach teams for years. If you disagree, you disagree.

(I understand why Harris will start in GB even if Etling outperforms BH in camp)

Its any backup. All teams pro or college want the backup if the starter is average. But Rohan Davey is the most liked QB of my generation. Definitely not about race. Its about wanting to be entertained.

So CLM started JL over JJ, then JJ over JL.
Fit that into your notion.

You seem to have something personal against etling.

Sad.

why do you make this a racist issue man? that's bull shite. LSU's back up QB is ALWAYS and all American, regardless of race. do you not recall the calls for Harris when Jennings was the QB? or did you conveniently forget that. this isn't the 50's; people are not always pulling for the white kid. in fact, my observation is just the opposite. when a white kid is on the team he's always the worst player according to the vast majority of posters.

Well said GranDad. Folks are here will literally bitch at anything. Literally every QB we start, the backup is automatically better regardless of skin pigment. The guys making this about race are most likely racist.

We should all be 100% for BH playing all year even if he stinks it up.

Yes. You should be all for our 3rd year QB holding onto the job all year. That means we have a good year. You should root for this.

Scott is just a freshman so he can not be considered or mentione

Yes. Look at Harris @auburn 2 years ago to see what putting a green freshman can result in for this league. Also the kid just arrived on campus. You really think he has enough grasp on the offense to be the QB? If he were the starter I guarentee you we would be the most conservative team we've ever been under Miles. So again you should root against this being the answer. It would not end well for the football team

quote:
ing was sub par as a freshman and has no hope of improving ever.

How is this any different than you wanting another QB over Harris because he had some struggles in his first year of starting? (Which again is revisionist history, and ignoring a really good 7-8 games before the bama game and injury)

Also etting can improve. But he was not brought here to start games. He was here to build depth at the position, a position we were WOEFULLY undermanned last season and would've been even worse this season had we not taken a transfer the year prior. We got lucky Harris didn't miss any time last year

quote:
We haven't had good QB play since ZM but any thread showing concern about QB play is asinine!

Worry about it when you see the games. I'm just telling you the reality of the situation. You crying about your concerns doesn't change a thing, but don't deflect from the actual facts about the QB situation

WRONG!

Did I ever say I wasn't rooting for BH? EVER!

I have pointed out BH's injury in his defense!

Cry? Who is crying. But there are a bunch of dumb posters here that act as though we should all pretend that Etling and Scott aren't even on the team.

Screw you posters that have the double standard of talking about possible second and third string guys in other positions but acting like it is Taboo to talk about Scott or Etling!

I would find it just as stupid if you were clamoring for Savion Smith to start over Tre White

Difference is only one guy can start at QB. And freshman QBs have a much steeper learning curve.

If you want to make a thread about how you think Etting will be a solid backup in case of injury, it'll go much smoother for you. But this thread implies that Harris will be bad this year AND Miles will refuse to make a change despite awful play. It insists upon itself. Etting was not brought here to start and will not start here barring injury to Harris. That's the reality, join it or continue to chase unicorn backup QBs that always play better in your head than they do in real life.

the only time he sees the field is before game time when they are warming up. Should Harris get hurt and have to miss playing time, maybe, just maybe. The young man is good but transferred to the wrong school with the wrong offense and head coach.

Les picks his QB and sticks with him before any practice starts. Danny will get his shot if Brandon can't hobble on the field with a broke arm.

Etling transferred to a contender where he has a legit shot to win an SEC championship, a national championship, and if he were to win the job or take the reigns due to injury, would get a shite ton of exposure, and improvement to his draftability (assuming he plays well). LSU got a solid backup at a position of significant importance.

Who got a bad deal, here?

I hope Etling never sees the field, transfers again after LSU goes 15-0.

That would mean that Harris does well and stays healthy and stays for his senior year.

Based on?

It's amazing that no one talking about Etling being good can actually point to any evidence backing it up.
