I think you are misinterpreting what people are saying. Coastal can hit but that style of ball may not translate to Omaha as we have found out.

I think bette teams will easily beat ccu. Lsu left more many in scoring position than I an even recall. Teams with more solid hitting will drive in runs. Coastal wasn't that great on the mound either nothing g they do blew me away and we could have easily walked away with the series. We did it to ourselves rather than someone jut imposing will on us.

I don't think they are an overwhelmingly great team. They hit well, but that isnt what normally wins in Omaha, pitching does and I wasnt impressed by their pitching.

I'll have no problem pulling for CCU in Omaha. I think they may have a hard time though because LSU was destroyed by leaving base runners in scoring position. Not to mention the new stadium combined with the new bats puts hitting teams, particularly teams that like to hit for power, at a distinct disadvantage in Omaha. Then again, all bets appear to be off this post season, so who knows.

Yes strange postseason and the big park will hurt CC's chances. They may win a game or two. If I had to guess I'd give them one win. If you look at the post conference tourney polls, not many highly ranked teams left especially if UF is gone.

Just watching the games, CCU had better talent and didn't appear to be intimidated in clutch situations.

I don't really care to be honest. I won't watch it most likely. If LSU isn't there I don't have a lot of interest.

Let's see - 3 LSU guys show their emotions and that's fine, but Marks is trashy. Sour grapes on your part.

Marks was the difference in the game - took second on a fly ball out in the 1st and ended up scoring, then stole 2nd in the 9th and scored the winning run.

I don't have a problem with CC. I just don't think they are that good. I really don't care what they do in Omaha but I would be surprised if they made real noise there.

Because they knocked off my team, and I didn't like the look of the guy who scored the winning run. He was scary!

I would rather see someone else win.. but not too involved in caring who wins.

I like CC but Marks is a douche bag hotdog. The rest of their guys seem like good sports and good guys. Marks needs to grow the hell up and join his teammates.

except maybe the arrogant record holder closer that came in Friday night.
He slapped the ump on the arse as he was skipping on the field, and after that I was hoping he'd get his teeth knocked in.
I'd love to see CC knock out Florida or aTm, but it prolly aint happening. If LSU could've hit the ball when it counted, the Chantqueers would be at home right now sulled up.

Fun year to watch the Tigers. It'll only get better next year.

Or maybe it is an opinion of their ability to play at the CWS.

Anyway, am I supposed to admire them now just because they happened to be the team in the other dugout when LSU played mediocre baseball? Really, how soft has everybody gone? (Do you also apologize when the student section curses Saben out at football games? ) This is a competition, it is war without the deaths! Because I love LSU Baseball I'll always pull for my team until the last, and anyone that stands between us and our victory should be targeted to total annihilation - no pity, no quarters, no mercy. That's the attitude that wins championships. Yours just leads to more participation trophies.
quote:

LSU had a great season and overachieved in a BIG way. Just go back and look at all the preseason prediction threads if you can't remember.

Hum... they did much better than most expected giving the way the season started, but recent weeks showed that this team did indeed have what it takes to make a play for the championship. I'm not saying that we're the greatest team out there, but had we played up to our potential, I'd be reserving flights to Omaha right now.
quote:

The David and Goliath story is as old as... The Bible itself. It's a feel good story.

This wasn't David and Goliath. LSU sure isn't David, nor did we have the dominance to be Goliath... and CCU isn't David - they've shown legitimate quality play throughout the year, but not enough to be Goliath either. Stop trying to make this something it wasn't and CCU something they're not.
quote:

This is the greatest moment in the sports history of Coastal Carolina.

Which I feel, based on their play, will come to a quick end in Omaha. They have slid into a position that is beyond their ability. Don't forget, they were one out away from the end of the season two weeks ago.

They got 1 HR off of Lange (who was having a shaky day) and two off of our "special project" pitcher who has barely pitched in the past two seasons. None of those would have left TDA. Did you see what happened yesterday when they had to face some quality pitching? Didn't get within 30 feet of the wall.

They ran the bases well, but let's see how they do when they face a CWS caliber catcher (that doesn't drop every other ball or make every single throw to second 8 feet high). I think that part of their game will be shut down in Omaha.

And their pitching, we pretty much showed that there wasn't all too much there. At several points during both games we were only one hit, ONE HIT, away from sending CCU home. I have to believe that playing the margins that close will not end well for them next week.

quote:

For LSU, a speedbump.

No, no it is not. This is yet anther flop right when it matters most. It is becoming a recurring theme at the Box, and I (along with many other fans) have grown tired of it. "There's always next year." How many years do we have to say that before we finally admit that we aren't a good post-season team and finally make some changes?

quote:

I will be rooting for a CWS final series between UCSB and CC.

It's a free country, do whatever you want... But I'll never root for any team out of Califorina and the only reason you're pulling for CCU is because they beat us (see above point about everyone going soft).

They were very well coached and the players had an extremely high baseball IQ.
I will be pulling for them.
