Because Wade brought life into a dead program

He brought some swagger back and he demanded effort from his players

He brought back the dunking tiger, wanted to play games at the ag center, etc.

There was an energy, a buzz, around the program

So when you see people defending Wade, IMO they aren’t defending the man, they are defending that energy everyone has been desperate for and will now likely go away as LSU leadership goes back to being ok with mediocre results for the basketball program as long as football is ok.

That’s a good way to put it. I’m a huge Wade guy, and I don’t think myself or others are defending his actions or stupidity. We are defending what the basketball program was becoming, and could have been. The energy around the program is something that hasn’t existed in a long time.

Paying for good players will do that...It's a shame he didn't know how to coach them up!

Yup man, you’re absolutley right. We got 5 star talent in here. Paid for. And I loved every second of it. Do you honestly believe 90% of the big time schools you can think of aren’t paying for kids? You can’t be that naive. Or maybe it just fits your little narrative you’re gonna run with.

Some are better at it than others.

Well no shite. That's why everyone is so mad on the other end of the spectrum.

They felt that same thing and are mad he was so sloppy.

Exactly. We don’t give a shite. I was praying our next coach would pay the shite out of the recruits. Anything is better than the lifeless empty suits like Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones. Why even watch with those bumps on a log running the show?

Eh, I feel like most people mad on the other end of the spectrum hated Wade even before this past week. That was very clear on this board.

Same concept as Trump.

It's not about the man, it's about the passion for a like minded result.

It wasn't a sustainable model. And if they had won a title during his years it would be taken away since his cheating was an open book.

Probably so, but they're even doing that better than WW.

Wade was willing to do what it took to win here.
It's says something about lack of LSU support for basketball that the head coach is directly involved in pay for play like that. Just get 1/50th of the support from boosters that football gets and Wades name wouldn't have had to be on any of it.
This is what's infuriating to me as an LSU fan that is basketball first.

Also we pump a lot of money into the program and never get the full truth. You know what this University is not run by a private organization. This university is paid for from the tax payers. We should demand full disclosure.

That's just your opinion that he felt he had to cheat because he wasn't getting support.

And even at that, it still doesn't make it right.

Me too. Just not with his own fricking checking account

There was zero way to save Wade. Zero.

I’m telling you, “Woody” just killed the program. This program will sink into the deepest bowels of irrelevancy. No one will go, no one will support it, no one will care. Meanwhile, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, and so on will continue to thrive.

Woody, after sticking with Wade for a few more years to reap the benefits of a thriving program, caved in the blink of an eye. The death of the LSU basketball program is on him — your Baton Rouge, Catholic High savior. Good look finding someone to resurrect it from the dead.

I more mad at Wade for being so dumb than anything else. I think I'm mostly mad at him because I love him so much for bringing energy and swagger to LSU basketball when it was lacking for so long. He could have done what he was doing if he would have just insulated himself from it.

I mean, no the basketball facilities, and upgrades never happened. We are lacking in facilities, arena, and a program. So yeah maybe Wade did have to spend some money to convince 5 stars to come here over the likes of Kentucky and such. Sure it doesn’t make it right. But I really don’t give a frick. Everybody does it.
