I read about Alabama players Maze/Hanks feels that they were the better team and that they would beat LSU if there is a Repeat. I know Bama is hoping for that. But I say why should they get that opporunity. They lost the game, period. Both Teams had outstanding Defense, which everybody in the country knew that it was going to be a Defensive battle and it was. College Football is played for 60 minutes and the team that makes the least amount of mistakes, has good coaching, good special teams and capitalizes on the other teams mistakes should win the game. I know that is not always the case, but it was this time. Bama has good kickers; but they choked five times. How those kickers perform is part of coaching. Why was Saban kicking the long field goals when he could have put LSU in the cellar on there end of the field and his defense could have made a big difference. After 60 minutes and a overtime LSU did the necessary things with good coaching to win the game. It's not who could have one, should have won, or has the best team to win. What counts is the box score at the end of the game and who came out on top. I have seen the better teams lose all the time. What counts is the box score at the end of the game and who is on top. So why should Bama get a repeat...which could happen if Ok State and Stanford don't take care of business.

Why, this is the first thread to bring up the issue. Congrats.

BTW, their shouldn't be a "repeat".

We'll see. The specter was floated as just a remote possibility before the game and then it would have been if we lost by a narrow margin since we were p,aging in their yard. Now it's morphed into a serious discussion - as if that would have happened if we'd have lost. And we didn't. Screw those guys.

Bc at the end of the regular season there is a legit chance that Bama is the #2 team in the country?

A repeat would be totally unfair in my opinion. The game was played already, at Alabama, and the Tigers won. LSU beat Bama in their house end of story. To give Bama a do over which just so happens to be the National Championship would be a crime. So if Bama wins the rematch what does that prove? There national champions when we beat them already.? Bull shite If a rematch happens they need to make it the best two out of three. Let's just take care of the rest of our schedule and then worry about it.

They shouldn't unless their season performance qualifies them as the #2 team. If it does, they should not be penalized simply because they had the misfortune of being on our schedule in the regular season and being in the same division of our conference.

It's pretty simple. The national championship is supposed to match up the top two teams in the country. If you want the #1 team to be awarded the championship without having to play the #2 in the championship game, then just award the national championship after the last week of the regular season/conference championship games and don't bother with the BCS bowls/NC game. Otherwise, deal with the fact that the #2 team gets a shot at the national championship in a championship game, and it doesn't matter whether they've already played and lost to the #1 team or not.

In theory at least, if several teams with one loss are in contention for the 2nd BCSNCG spot, shouldn't a team whose loss is to the #1 team be more deserving than a team who lost to a lesser team?

Okay...good assessment. So if Alabama wins the second time... Are they really the National Champs when LSU beat them the first time. It's really a split...hmmmmm, whatever..bring bama on for a second beating..les will out coach Nick again.
