are you talking about present day, or overall tradition, etc?

I would say bet him that LSU will draw more than UT did at Reliant Stadium, but in looking at wikipedia, that might be close!

quote:

The 2005 game featured Houston native Vince Young at quarterback for the University of Texas at Austin and led the Longhorns to a 70–3 rout of the University of Colorado in front of 71,107

However, if we pulled this in Dallas, we should have no problem in Houston:

quote:

September 3, 2011 #3 LSU Tigers 40 #4 Oregon Ducks 27 87,711

August 31, 2013 #12 LSU Tigers 37 #20 TCU Horned Frogs 27 80,230

Since he is so worried about the past, tell him this link should explain it in terms he should understand.

That crap is ancient history...

Ooooooohhh...he wants to talk about the past???!!!!

Well hell, let's roll. If that's the best stats his school can garner over 40 yrs against Rice, TCU, SMU and Baylor, than his program sucks worse than I originally thought.

I graduated from UT and grew up in BR.

Probably the most important difference is that in Austin there's plenty to do that doesn't involve the university. And even if you are involved with the campus somehow there's more than just football. With the exception of football, Texas >>>>>>> LSU in damn near everything that counts and most that doesn't. Plus it's enormously safer.

That said, the Texas Stadium as a playing venue is kinda eh. There's no tailgating to speak of, at least not that we'd recognize. Basically everyone parties at home, comes to the game, and then goes to Third and Sixth streets.

The building that houses the stadium is pretty sweet though, think of it as a combined stadium and practice facility, with classrooms, weights, etc.

UT is a great place to go to school, much better than LSU. Except on Saturdays.

La. players are hungrier. Tx players are spoiled and coddled a lot. La players = heart and chest.

I split time in Austin and Dallas so I've gauged that fan base quite a bit. It starts and ends with their weird fan base.

They have a large number of sub-par fans who treat UT as the local NFL team (tons of Austin transplants who are casual fans that like to talk shite), while most LSU fans are as diehard as it gets.

Their actual alumni are actually pretty cool to hang with though.

But if you have ever been to DKR, it is the quietest gathering of 95,000 fans you'll ever be around.

I wouldn't even use the SEC vs. Big 12 argument until the very end because he'll probably just shut down and think of a retort to that aspect while ignoring the rest of what you say.

Big 12 fans get butt hurt when you talk up the SEC, this coming from someone who got my other degree at a Big 12 school, it's laughable how skewed their views are just because ESPN shows us love all season. It would be like a bunch of Germans thinking the United States isn't near as awesome of a country as we think we are just because we're always in world news.
