Comparison of Bear Bryant's record to Les Miles' record

Record for First 9 years
BB = 80-12-6 for 81.6%
LM = 95-24 for 79.8%

Record for Next 4 yrs for BB = 28-15-2 for 62.2%

Record for Next 2 yrs for LM = 16-8 for 66.6%

BB record for next 12 years = 124-19-1 for 86.1%

LM record for next ? years = ??

Alabama had the patience to weather the slump. A little patience paid big returns for Alabama. Perhaps it will for LSU.

Yeah, but how many times did BB lose to Bama?

That's pretty sound honestly. Miles will have every opportunity to right the ship this season.

The times have changed. Les has proven his unwillingness to change, even during games. That has been his biggest mistake as a coach. His way or lose.

" it's not a slump and there is no decline"

"All is well, I mean great. I mean better than great. "

Ive been pm'd to adhere to this guideline.

Comparison of Bear Bryant's record to Les Miles' record

One stat you left out. In Bear Bryant's first nine years at Alabama he led them to three national championships and two undefeated seasons. Miles coached LSU to one and zero, and his national title is the only one ever where a team with two losses (after the bowls were played) was named the champion.

One thing that I think continues to be overlooked as it relates to Miles. Most of the time when a coach takes over a program it has gone into the toilet. When they get hired they have work to do in rebuilding the program and that usually comes with a few tough years early on (Think Saban losing to ULM his first year). Miles took over a program that was a contender from day 1 with a pedigree that was nearly unmatched and a roster filled with 4 and 5 star talent. Most coaches dont get that so when comparing overall records keep that in mind.

You'd be surprised how many great coaches started their careers with a shite ton of losses before things got rolling. Frank Beamer's first six years at VA Tech were down right horrible. Mac Brown had three or four ugly seasons before he turned UNC around and it's a wonder he even got the job based on what he did at Tulane. Jimmy Johnson's time at OSU was not prestine. If Urban Meyer had started off at Ohio State like Woody Hayes did, he'd be gone by now.

All of sudden football is zero fun unless you are winning championships every year.

Bear Bryant recognized that he had to change his offense. He did a complete 180 and brought in experts to help him install the wishbone.

The cost of being a fan is significantly higher than it was 20 years ago. When athletic departments demand the fans to pay larger sums, the fans will demand better results.

Good God son, after 9 years at Bama, the Bear was still only 53 years old

Miles will be 63 YEARS OLD NEXT SEASON

The Bear was dead at 69. Miles doesnt have that much football left in him. What you saw this year is about all he has left in him
