Why is Penix still being mentioned for Heisman when he’s crapped the bed recently?

He has shite the bed in 2 of his last 5 games.

Last game he completed less than 50% of his passes while throwing for just 162 yards and had a passer rating below 120

Then against a 1-6 ASU team, he led his team to less than 300 yards of total offense, threw for 0 TDs and 2 INTs, fumbled a handoff for another turnover, and his offense scored zero TDs. His passer rating was only 108. It took a pick 6 by the Washington defense for them to even win that game and this was all at home.

Remember when Fournette was eliminated from Heisman consideration for that one bad game against Bama?

Crazy still seeing Penix being mentioned as a favorite

Why isn’t GA’s quarterback given more consideration than Penix? SEC bias. It’s bad!

He plays on an undefeated team that likely will make the CFP.... has won big games, and is being rewarded by the National Media.

The Heisman is more than just stacking stats....

Washington won that ASU game despite Penix. He had 3 turnovers in that game.

And if that is the criteria, why isn’t Georgia’s QB being mentioned?

Because he is still top 5 in most passing statistics and he is the quarterback of an undefeated playoff team.

Well it’s been a de facto MVP award for a long time and he made some key plays against OSU that helped them win, key first downs to kill the clock for example.

I think the best thing for Daniels would be Washington beating Oregon again. That would probably knock Nix out and the stat differential favors Daniels even more over Penix

Washington winning and Penix looking average would seal it for JD.

Agree for sure.

As the season's progressed UGA has gotten great play from their QB...

We all know there is alot of media bias when all of this goes into play.

For instance....

Jayden Daniels playing at 11am while heisman voters are all going to be tuned into Ohio St./Michigan?....Very unfair, but at the same time LSU and BK knows their only shot is just to attempt to stack stats and have that as their only real argument when it comes to it...by doing this it has got him and invite to NYC currently... and if no one has "Heisman Moment" this weekend or during the Championship week, his stat stacking will win him a Heisman!

The national media will not penalize someone for playing in conference championship game and not putting up crazy numbers....

The stakes are higher than playing Georgia State

Anyone can be mentioned within reason but that doesn’t mean that they will win or get any votes

Not to mention Washington kind of came out of nowhere with their recently found success. Who would have ever thought in the preseason that they would be undefeated right now?

This is the Heisman Hierarchy

1. Elite QB if he is on a BCS/CFP Team ( Young, Burrow, Murray, Mayfield, Mariota, Winston, Newton, Bradford, Troy Smith, Leinart, White, Crouch, Weinke)
2. Best Non-QB Offensive Player on the Best Team (D. Smith, Henry, Ingram, Bush)
3. Best QB(Williams,Jackson, Manziel, Griffin, Tebow, Palmer)

Being on USC or a dominant Bama team gives you a boost for sure.

but this holds true pretty much going back to Ron Dayne.

Troy Smith is maybe the weakest to fall in group 1.

The odds for Peniix moved from +300 to +600, so his new odds do reflect he is unlikely to win. You can bet Caron Beck at + 8000. You can bet Malik Numbers if you like at +25000.

Realistically Penix is probably out, as his odds predict. The fact my keyboard keeps autocorrecting his name to “penis” cant help him. Lol.

It’s basically a two horse race between Nix and Daniels. Daniels is at -130, Nix at +130. Those are close odds, so as of today Vegas thinks Daniels will win but will not be surprised if Nix wins.

When they are close like Nix and Daniels, their next game can be a referendum of sorts. For Heisman voters who have not made up their mind, whoever plays better Saturday might get their vote.

I like Daniel’s chances, a Heisman moment or two Saturday would help.

Media thrives on drama. Gotta have some drama to generate views and clicks. If everyone said the obvious that Daniels is the winner then no one would pay attention anymore.

I can guarantee you Penix won't get drafted before JD5.

Got to have a 3rd or 4th guy to send to NYC.
Also, i thought he played pretty well in his last game given the weather. If you look at the stat sheet, its nothing special, but if you watched, he was solid in a thunderstorm
