Because generally speaking he does a decent job, and normally our defense keeps us in the game.

You say our defense couldn’t get any stops in OT, but we held them to a couple field goals and we didn’t have like 2/3 of our best CBs in the game.

Also I really Our defense scored a TD, and honestly I think Made multiple plays that won the game that the refs botched.

I am Not really gonna blame any but the refs for losing this game.

Also we never got “lit up”

Offense doubled avg rushing yards on #1 SEC rush defense in regulation but you will all conveniently ignore that to bitch about O and E. So why does this give Aranda a pass for when we couldnt stop them one fricking play out of about a dozen chances to win the game?

Because even though he has to work with an offense consistently ranked in the bottom half of college going three-and-out constantly, he still manages to get top 30 defenses every year.

Offenses and defenses on the same team can feed off of each other. When good defenses get turnovers and force a lot of three-and-outs it makes the offense look better because they have short fields and get more possessions throughout the game. Likewise, a shite offense can hurt good defenses by not possessing the ball and causing the defense to constantly be on the field all game.

Take out that 7 overtime game that just occurred, because it's skews the stats, and go look at where LSU's offense and defense ranked in multiple categories before the Texas A&M game.

There you will find your answer as to why nobody is bitching about Dave Aranda. There is only one problem with LSU and it's been the same problem going on 11 years now.

No. After the last drive it was 354 I believe.

Fair enough. My point stands though. Obviously there is blame to go around. We couldn't make a stop at the end when we really needed. But the bottom line is our garbage offense has hung the defense out to dry for most of the season. Our defense tied the game up Saturday for God's sake. And as you alluded to, the muffed punt didn't exactly help anyone either. Aranda and the defense is way down the list of issues with this team and program. Without him I shudder to think what this team's results look like.

Good question. 74 points is a lot of points, no matter the age, experience, style, etc. of either the defense or offense. Certainly were plenty of opportunities for "adjustments".

the D lost us the game w ND last year.
4th quarter...bad defense, we lost.

something happens that we become soft at times..this is obvious and needs correcting.
At this time is is not a firing situation, but needs corrected A LOT OF MONEY is being paid to have a good D.

Whats your stance on HC and OC?

Surely they are at A FIRING situation if youre even mentioning it with Aranda.

74 in 7 overtime’s that 7 extra possession starting on the 25.

And again, I think People can see that time and time again our defense made the plays necessary to win the game.

Picked off Monds, forced a fumble with sternberger. And that PI was BS.

A&M just got like 3-4 muligans

You have to be blind if you don’t recognize the fact that the defensive effort LSU has put forth in the last two years has dwarfed the offensive effort LSU has put forth in the last two years.

Are you saying that when the LSU defense ranks in the 30s and the LSU offense ranks in the 70s, we should put more blame on the defense??

31st in total defense. According to the numbers, O has met or exceeded his salary and Aranda has not.

It's stupidity like this that makes me think sometimes our fans deserve Orgeron and Ensminger.

Because the defense never should have been in the situations in which they were "exposed".

Y’all can’t be serious about the scoring in OT. I can understand the last touchdown to tie the game but one has to be retarded to not understand that defense in that many OTs is non existent the vast majority of times.

And the fact that we didn’t “stop” them when they start each possession in FG range and the defense held them to fieldgoals multiple times.

No, Coach O lost that game just like he lose this one. He went super conservative on offense playing scared instead of going for the kill shot at the end of the game. Same damn thing with A&M. Defense got a stop. All the offense had to do was get ONE first down. They couldn't. OT was the same damn story. After the defense holds them to a fg, we come out and run three straight QB runs. Once again playing it safe because Coach O and E had no balls.

Eta: the defense and the end of those games were the same as well. Completely gassed and full of injuries. Yet Coach O thought it was best to play conservative and put it all on the depleted defense. Why? Maybe because he knows he is still running a shitty offense.

On qb scrambles.

169 yards in the 1st half.

The defense had to score to tie the game.

UAB outgained us in regulation.

Name the other DC's that have been elite at 2 different p5 programs.

Elite is a relative term. Over the last 15 years Aranda's defense ranks 14th (2018), 8th and 9th. Only Steele in 2015 was lower than Aranda this season by 1 yard per game.

Wisconsin had the #1 defense in CFB last season. IDK if their DC is an Aranda protégé so he could get some credit for that.

None of this is a knock on Aranda. He's a very good DC and lack of offense has hurt the defense there's no doubt. Wisconsin has a run heavy ball control philosophy which keeps the defense fresh and off the field. We used to as well and it got Les canned.

I understand how OT works, If your team scores and has a lead, you stop the other team and win. With the game on the line, 8 times this genius DC aranda had an opportunity to make a stop to win the game. This is on the DC. Ensmingers offense gave him a 31-24 lead and once again the Chavis looking defense failed. End of story.

The honeymoon for Aranda is over. His D giving up 74 points to A&M is a joke.

Even without the O/T BS he still gave up 31 to A&M which is inexcusable. He gave up 29 to Alabama.

The bloom has come of the rose. Aranda is no wizard. Ens definitely needs to be replaced. Aranda is good but not as good as everyone makes out on here, after this season his stock has plummeted.

O is really the best thing LSU has going on the coaching staff and that is a sad reality.
