It looks like he could at least gain 5 yds or so on some of the runs to the sidelines, but he throws it away. Does he not have a feel for the game or is he being told to "just throw it away".

For that matter, I know that Mett is not the swiftest guy, but even JaMarcus, who was a pocket qb, would get some 3rd down conversions by running up the middle like a draw when the coverage was good.

Is Mett that uncomfortable running or is he being coached to not make a mistake. C'mon man! If the guy has talent, then let him be aggressive.

when you see him rolling toward the sidelines it seems that maybe 90% of the time he's going to throw it away.

I don't know. Probably the same reason Drew Bledsoe isn't usually compared to Michael Vick?

Obviously you guys don't watch the games. There have been a couple of times that he could pick up some yards, but chooses to throw it. Hell, he even went over the scrimmage line once when he threw it. That was at least 2 yards, instead of a penalty.

Do you even remember JaMarcus? He was not fast & did not like to run, but even he could make an intelligent play & tuck it for some positive yards.

Too slow, jamarcus wasnt fast, but he was hard to bring down unless he tripped himself. Jmarc did a fricking cart wheel into the endzone. Mett also threw the ball 4 yds passed the los. If you noticed also, it takes him so long to get down he has to slide way before a defender is near him losing valuable yardage.

JR was 100x the athlete Mett is. Remember the runs he made in the Tennesee game? No way Mett could do that

He seemed to have a bit more meat on his bones and the ability to absorb some hits

I think Mett might be a little weak to be looking to drop the shoulder down field

As long as he NEVER tries to gain some yards running on good coverage & just throws it away, the db's will NEVER respect the run. The reason that there is some room when he is flushed from the pocket is because he throws it away every time.

OP makes a good point. A one yard gain is better than a throw away. The penalty against tamu he could have picked up 5-6 yards and slid. Obviously he doesn't need to try to scramble from the pocket, but when he's already out like on that play it would be better for him to tuck it and pick up what he can. I was screaming at the tv on that play
