Why do we only play 10 of the 11 SEC teams in baseball?

If the SEC played 11 series in a season, then we wouldn't get the big out of conference weekend series like LSU vs Centenary.

Actually, part of the problem with an 11 week schedule is that half of the teams would have an unfair advantage by getting to play 6 home series vs 5 road series, while the other teams would travel one more week.

My guess is that 33 SEC games vs. 30 SEC games cuts out the little guys like Southern and Southeastern all around the country from getting a payday.

This. Plus the teams with the 6 away SEC series would lose the revenue from not hosting 3 more games at home.

Yeah and you can only play up to 11 of them if you're already 1 of them..........

That could be done, but consider LSU's situation.

If LSU loses 3 home games every other season, 3 X 10,000 (paid) X $10 = $300,000 lost revenue every other year. And that doesn't count concessions revenues.

Not gonna' happen....

To keep the shedule balanced with every team having 15 home and 15 away in conference. This is the only reason and it's a good one.

We'd still receive the same money we are receiving now.
