If we were #6 instead of #7 last year, maybe we would have avoided Stony Brook.

Yes. My post was reinforcing your point that seeds don't matter.

It doesn't matter because only 4 or 5 national seeds make it to Omaha every year on average, so you don't know who you will face at that point. The 8 seed might have an easier Omaha matchup than the 2 seed

Whether LSU is the 1 seed or the 8 seed they are getting paired with the same regional.

What i am trying to say is ONCE you make it to Omaha, the higher seeds don't have an advantage? I am not talking regionals at all.

you want to be seeded 1-8 because you are sure to host a SUPER regional
if you are just one one the other host 9-16 - you win you will likely travel for the supers unless the original 1-8 you were matched against loses
1-8 gives you home field advantage to omaha
several years ago rice was a 1-8 & lost to a&m 7 instead of having to travel to houston - we got the host & a & m came to us

If all 8 national seeds were to make it to omaha, then yes 1 plays 8, 2 plays 7, etc. But the difference between the top 8 seeds is so small depending on who is pitching, that its almost negligible.

This is a great answer.

Thanks. But I would still imagine the top couple seeds are just better teams. I understand teams get hot etc. but I just think there are a handful of elite teams this year.

Then again I could see USCe making it all the way

I would say batting last is a pretty big deal.

Who are the handful of elite teams? I'd bet at least 1 if not 2 don't make it to Omaha
