GBFTL halftime shows are garbage.
That said, there are plenty of people on this board who would bitch if they started playing pop/rap renditions. Because Obama, kids these days, etc. etc.

So does every other band in the fricking country.

In the band for 4 years. I agree changes need to be made. 3 days is plenty to learn a new show. The show was weak and reused. The new drum major is horrible also.

So over the years LSU has raised education requirements to get in higher and higher yet the band is less capable of memorization now?

Moorhouse. She's at the University of Illinois.
Boosters need to go get her back. The reason she left is because she was passed over after Wickes retired. They should say "sorry," give her some $$$, and get her back on the bullhorn in BR.

THIS
I think I've seen West Side story three times now this year. That's three too many times.

You know what's sad is that they try out to be in that shite show. Please, some band member enlighten us. If Southern has an open week, maybe rtf hey could play for us. Other bands at least can be heard.

Keep this up guys, lots of Tiger Band Alums are talking about this on Facebook in Tiger Band Groups, etc. If enough criticism is heard, maybe there will be a change.

The West Virginia band basically embarrassed the Golden Band back in 2010. Put on a much better show.

What's the Gay Bi Sexual Lesbian Transexual movement got to do with our half time show?

Biggest rant myth ever.

I can't stand the play 2 songs, one of them standing still for the golden girls, and play hey fighting tigers off the field halftime shows. But that's all they ever are. It's lazy directing. The band hired a new offensive coordinator a couple of years ago who was supposed to bring more imaginative shows into the rotation but he hasn't been allowed to do so yet.
What you're seeing is a band full of Roy recruits now. Every single Wickes and Moorhouse recruit is gone from the program. The band was able to hang on for a couple of years after 2009 because the older members were taught more disciple and a better work ethic. There's no comparison of a Roy King practice to a Linda Moorhouse practice. People were afraid of her. But they respected her and put a good product on the field.
The band is basically going through LSU football's 2008 and 2009 after the Saban recruits were gone. The football team and Miles figured out what they needed to do and the team improved trough 2010 and 2011. The band has no more Moorhouse students and the quality reflects that. Now the band needs to change their vision and plan or continue to decline.

I was there, and was far more impressed with WVU's band than the Golden Band. Embarrassed is probably too strong of a word, but their show was better.

They marched their pregame show they do before every home game. Which means it's the thing they practice more than anything else.. And it still looked like shite. Those circles were terrible.
There was no comparison in sound either. Tiger Band did a Led Zeppelin show (yeah yeah surprising.. I know) and sounded really impressive.

Not getting enough grit from this band or staff. I remember the stress level being unlike anything I've experienced....and I was a trumpet player, we had it made. Linda would strike the fear of God into you when she called your name to chew the person 3 spots down from you out.
As a freshman in 2007 it was difficult to please the directors and staff with so much focus on the little things. My senior year was a breeze, not because of the familiarity of the program but because the entire work ethic changed without Wicks and Linda present. Truly respect and loved working with Roy but there was a spark Linda brought out in people and that's what made it great....not sure how they can bring that back

What if they did a halftime show that feature Journey or something like that? How would the haters react? That is an 80's band at least

Aw well, that may be, but I preferred it. Ha.
I don't know about the ends and outs of bands though, like you seem to.
Much smaller band too, right? I imagine that matters with sound. Oh well, no sense in arguing this anymore.

I was only in the band (drumline) one year at LSU but had already been involved at another university so I had something to compare it to.
I was shocked at the amount of time we spend during preseason on stands tunes. This is shite that is basically sight readable.
I remember thinking that if they would have had all the music to the shows passed out during preseason we could have used much more of that time getting those tunes together and working on memorization. That way once we got into the meat of the season we would just have to plug in the drill.
Regardless, we still did several different shows and the way the schedule fell that particular year I don't think we ever repeated a show at home.
Wicks had a reputation as hardass but I liked his style.

Miles has lost control of the GBFTL.
