Why did it have to be BR or Gainesville?

First off, Florida are still bitches for not just going to BR. LSU did it for Katrina, SCar did it last year. Some things are just more important.

But if Florida was really adamant about not playing in BR, couldnt the SEC reach out to Auburn, Bama, Tenn, Ole Piss, or UGA whose stadiums are all vacant this weekend? This way LSU doesn't have HFA and we don't have cancelation threats. Seems like it could have been an OK compromise

Ask yourself this: would you want Bama vs Auburn in our campus? Or any other matchup?

I wouldn't have a problem with it if we weren't playing there at the time. Hell if the Iron Bowl was in Tiger Stadium at 2:30 and LSU was playing an away night game at like 7 I'd highly consider going to the Iron Bowl myself then watching LSU after.

I think Mobile could've been a solid option.

It didnt, thats not the issue...UF wants to cancel the game...alot of injuries, secondly a canceled game gives them an outside shot at Atlanta, if Tennessee stumbles, UF could end up with 1 less loss in the column, the less loss being the cancelled LSU game....advantage UF...shenanigans

When we have an away game, most likely at a later time? Absolutely!
Entertaining matchup (that might allow our tailgators to set up shop and show off), tremendous goodwill towards the school hosting the event, and the conference game gets played.

I'd cringe at Kentucky-Vandy, or Missouri vs one of those. Miss St would be a little rough, too. Would still host them, it just wouldn't be exciting.

But remember, despite LSU's occasional complaints about having to face a good Florida team being unfair, LSU-Florida is one of the marquee games on the conference schedule. Teams with 4 BCS trophies between the two, coming to a stadium near you. it would likely be a fun event for the 35 thousand that would wander in for some live ball, and have no true anxiety about who wins.

It doesn't. That's the crazy part. Move to a high school stadium in Panama City if they want.
