I couldn't help myself. I know, I know. But C'mon the irony is so beautiful.

Couldn't have backfired on a better quitter

But hey, he's gettin his more money, but now never will have a chance to win a championship.

I also find it funny A&M is having trouble recruiting LBs already.

You kidding, see how effective the Chief's D has been on the Aggie offense.

When he arrived at TAMU, didn't he say during his press conference something to the effect of "I'm happy to be here at Texas A&M and excited to play with a GREAT OFFENSE.

Well, so much for that.

Is this the modern, sophisticated passing offense people have said we needed?

It's cute when they say "just wait til Chavis recruits his LBs"

That's funny because we had his worst defense the year that we had our best offense. Hmmmm....

One day, aTm will realize that if they get a coach who recruits and plays grown-man-football, they will be physically better than 75% of the teams they play. That's how you win consistently in college. It allows for off nights where you can still win because your team is just better. Sumlin/Chavis won't get them there.

Let's be completely fair. Chavis runs about the best balance of timely (yet predictable) aggression and "bend but don't break" defense in CFB over the past quarter century. A defense that, by and large, allows an offense to start slow or make mistakes. A defense that, sometimes, gets too conservative, too early and snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

But, about as good an Xs and Os defensive coordinator out there - at least from the "old school" (a lot of these young pups are growing up quickly, Aranda, Smart, Sitake, Wilcox, Durkin and Odom are all under 40 and I believe all will have a HC job in the next 3 years).

But, he is INCREDIBLY lazy and a liability on the recruiting trail. That was his downfall at Tennessee and at LSU - Tennessee is somewhat excusable, because they had to hustle increasingly to get that national/regional talent in there - at LSU - (beyond spotting Mathieu - when many, many others missed him, and a couple of wins here and there - notably Garrett, who flopped) this is inexcuable because of the availability of willing talent from the HS football hotbeds of Louisiana, Mississippi and East Texas, and other areas we've developed inroads, such as South Florida.

Inexcusable to be so short of DTs and LBs as we are now - which are primarily the responsiblity of Chavis and his DL coach, Haley.

Tyrann was a 4 star and a top 200 player in the country. People see his size and immediately think he was a low rated player but he wasn't. He lit it up at a Tennessee camp and people took notice. Mo Claiborne would be a better example.

Also Chavis recruited LB's. He didn't evaluate or recruit DB's that was/is up to Frank Wilson and Ron Cooper/Corey Raymond.

A&M has a lot more problems than just a sputtering offense.
