That doesn't make him a Bama homer.

Last summer, the headline for one of his radio shows was how unfathomable it was that a recruit picked Kentucky over bama. It was basically a huge recruiting pitch and Saban knob-slobbering fest. As he's gotten more distant from the program, his bamaphilia has toned down, but I find it hard to listen to him or his callers, who are the gumpiest of them all.

The only thing I can really think of that would be worse than listening to Finebaum, would be penis cancer....

Then you don't know his history. He's been a Bama homer his whole career. I will give him props for getting little Nicky pissed off at him for asking about Hootie Jones and Cam Robinson. But his show is mostly a 4 hour callin and promotion show for Alabama. I would have rather seen someone with an unbiased bent and not with a career bias toward one school in the conference.

So did a considerable portion of our own fanbase.

.....and they did so before last season....and they continue to do it.....but it's OK for LSU fans to do it and not Finebaum I guess.

You know how to stop that.

Somebody has to step up and knock Saban/Bama off the perch.
I like Finebaum fine, can't stand some of the dumb posters.
Finebaum is an entertainer. He has to speak to the hot topics and rub sand in the redass losers to get callers.

And when he did piss off Saban..intentionally as is his thing, i.e. ratings....he bragged for 2 days when he said that Saban called & apologized on his ride back to bama. Only after his PR guy suggested he do so. There was a photo on the SEC rant of him dressed out in his bama gear for bama's spring game this past Spring: red bama shirt, red bama hat, huge Roll Tide button on his shirt. He had bama's A.D. ..or retired A.D. I am not clear...on Thursday for a good 20 minutes talking about his battle with cancer. And then the bama callers took over & it was all bama for a good 45 minutes. Don't guess Cam Cameron's battle is newsworthy...on the SECN. What other SEC HC has his post practice presser shown on the SECN every day??

He's not a Bama fan. He jumps on the bandwagon of the hottest team in the SEC, which just happens to be Bama with the run we've had since 2009. When Urban and Tebow won those 2 titles, you would've thought they were the second coming by the way Finebaum talked about them. He constantly trolled Bama and Auburn fans and compared their program to Florida's. And before Saban arrived and we started dominating Auburn, he would troll Bama callers when the Iron Bowl came around. As for Miles/LSU, I think he's just hard on them because he feels they've underachieved, for the most part, with all of the talent they've had post-2007. I remember after the Ole Miss loss when he got into it with an LSU caller. Finebaum said that Les has averaged 3-4 losses per year, post-2007, with recruiting classes that have been on par with those that Meyer and Saban bring in.

+1. However, if LSU whips the Tide in 2016 he will be on our bandwagon. I look forward to that!

Alabama Homer....do you even watch his show??

Did you listen to Finebaum during the Shula regime? He was laughing at Shula and Bama on a daily basis.

Dude just sorta speaks his mind, tells it like it is.

During Saban's time at Bama he of course tells you the truth, that Bama is good.

Exactly. That's why I like watching Finebaum. He will give a team/coach/player their props when they deserve it. If they f*ckup, he will criticize them accordingly. It's refreshing to see any member of the media practice his profession in this manner.

If an LSU fan tells me, "I hate listening to uneducated rednecks who can barely speak English, and that's why I don't watch the show," that is justifiable.

If an LSU fan tells me, "the majority of the Finebaum show is spent discussing Bama or Auburn, and that's why I don't watch the show," that is justifiable.

If an LSU fan tells me Finebaum is an "Alabama fan," I disagree with you. He went to Tennessee and bleeds orange. He just panders to Alabama fans because they represent the majority of his viewership, and if LSU fans made up the majority of his audience, you would see a shift in the team he spoke about most. If you were a talk show host of a successful show, you would also speak to the majority of your viewership in the same manner.

If an LSU fan tells me, "Finebaum criticizes LSU or CLM unfairly, and that's why I don't like Finebaum," you are delusional.

If you speak for El Campo, I speak for us Tigers in H-town.

So you're saying between minimal SEC Football talk and Finebaum, you'd choose the former?

If 610 KILT is talking Tiger football, I'll choose that over Finebaum; If 610 KILT is talking Texans, I'll choose Finebaum.

He lost me the year he talked badly about LSU and Miles, I think it was 2010, the week prior to the game and then on the Monday after the game, he almost totally refused to even talk about the game. I thought he acted like a jerk.

Since his show joined the SEC network, he's had to tone down his Bama love fest, but I still almost never listen to him.

He does? And how is he better than everyone?

Because of Finebaum, we have a four hour show devoted to SEC Football every weekday of the year! Can you believe that? I would have killed for a program like that in 1998.

That many don't care to listen to the bulk of the audience being really horrific Alabama callers..

I don't believe hate is the word, but perhaps don't care for.. You obviously haven't heard enough from him over the years? Maybe he's gotten better, I don't care enough to put up with watching much of his show..

Why do bama fans make up the majority of his viewership? This is the SECN, i.e it represents the entire league. Is it just a coincidence that all his bama callers do not have to wait to get through while caller after caller from other schools all say "i've been trying to get through for days"? He went to UT but is far from bleeding UT. Give me one example, going back since the SECN has been in existence, when he was bleeding UT orange? Repeat, in his own words last summer: " the 4 days bama won the NC were the best 4 days of my life". When you call him " refreshing & professional" you, Mr. ElCampo Tiger, are the one who is delusional. I presume you consider Jerry Springer refreshing & professional, too?

You were really laying out some interesting points, but then you go and say this..

quote:

I think a lot of LSU fans are still butthurt regarding what he said prior to 2012 (when his show was based out of Birmingham) and should focus on the good he's done since 2013 (when his show became nationally syndicated). Of all the great former Bama players that could have been a co-host on his show, he chose Marcus Spears, and I think he deserves credit if only for that move alone.

Marcus Spears is also a huge Nick Saban fan FWIW.. And again how do you know he chose him?

But I really don't think you should have used fans being "butthurt.." that just goes to show you aren't going to be open-minded and you are clearly "knighting" for the guy.

I didn't even know about the man calling us a toxic waste.. so no, it's not even about that. It's about a majority of his trashy fan base and how he caters to them.. and his bias over the years for Alabama.. You haven't listened long enough. Just because he's more diplomatic now that he's on TV.. doesn't mean a majority of people should start liking him. He's just not a likable person to many.. but many enjoy his program, such as yourself.. and that's fine too.. doesn't mean you have to like him.
