This is not inconsistent with what Bertman said. He said Spurrier had already committed to USCe and did not want to back out on it. Did not say that was first interview or initial conversation or what.

The interview Spurrier was referring to with Finebaum was in 1986 when LSU hired Archer.

[quote]Where do some of you get your information?

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE.

DOUBLE check your info peeps.

In 1990, the GREAT LSU leaders pulled a fricktard move and actually interviewed both CURLY HALLMAN and STEVE SPURIER on the same freaking weekend.

Not paying attention to where each group would have dinner, they actually booked dinner for both coaches at the same freaking place.

When Spurrier saw Curly with the other group he got mad and told LSU to kiss his arse.

I believe the words he stated to LSU was "You get what you pay for"

HENCE,

Curly Hallman became LSU coach in """ 1990 """

Steve Spurrier became FLA coach in """ 1990 """

Whew, explaining to the ignorant is tough

Spurrier took a job right before Saban left

Yeah, but I believe Bertman said that Spurrier expressed interest when Saban started putting feelers out for the NFL, and Spurrier became impatient when Nick and LSU dragging their feet in the process.

They both were referring to two different time frames. Spurrer referring to the job when Archer was hired and Bertman when Miles was hired !!

Stealth is 100% correct on that restaurant fiasco.

Skip knew Saban was probably going to leave but Nick was waffling and considering hard about not leaving and staying put. In the meantime Spurrier accepted the USCe job which did not allow us the opportunity to hire Spurrier the second time around.

Somebody may have mentioned this, but I'm certain Spurrier was talking about the LSU vacancy after Arnsparger left.

I think it's safe to say that LSU s/h hired the head ball coach.
