Depends who comes back.

He doesn’t but he’s also not a fan of this tradition. Mahtook is right. It needs to end. Not every sport needs something like this. Let players be themselves and not add any extra weight to a number. Leadership also happens naturally and are not appointed.

Perhaps the only way to end it is to not have a #8 for 1-2 years. Then #8 reverts back to a "normal" number.

IMO, the only number tradition LSU has that shouldn't go away is 18 for football because it's essentially given to the team leader voted on by the team.

Gordon McKernan will be dressing out and wearing that number as part of his NIL deal. I hate it, but that's what keeps the money flowing.

Why not JJ for his hell of a coaching job getting this team ready to play and win a CWSNC. We all know LSU was not playing well down the stretch and in the SECT. JJ rallied the troops made adjustments and kept the team focused through the losers bracket and won the NC. I say JJ wears the #8.
