Whoever the coach will be - what can/should they do about linebackers next year?

Aren't we supposed to be painfully thin there in '16? Whoever is the coach and whoever is the DC, what can be done at LB next year to shore things up?

Not much can be done unfortunately. You will probably see Duke Riley, Donnie Alexander and a couple incoming freshmen rotating. You can even throw Voorhies in the mix.
Unless someone like Bower moved to MLB, which is not likely, the run defense will be extremely vulnerable.

Be honest with Beckwith and tell him he just isn't ready and he needs to come back.

losing Beckwith will hurt a TON. DL is already porous to the run. We need LB's and DL by the wazzoo.

Ohio State started a redshirt freshman and true freshman at LB last year. They put up great numbers.
We have some guys in the class that look game ready from a physical standpoint, and are bigger than the guys we will have returning.
It might cause trouble in the early part of the year, but with a top HC/OC we could put up 40+ points a game and outscore teams until the defense gains a bit of experience.
I mean it's not like we have stopped anybody of note this year anyway.

Somebody on the board recently said we had a tons of fullbacks. Maybe they can transition some of them over? Or institute a formation that requires less linebackers.

I say move Fiest back to Linebacker. We need the depth, plus that is his natural position.
