Who Would Be the Most Realistic Replacement for Les?

Listening to a lot of LSU fans over the weekend, whether it be on Hanagriff's post game show, WWL's joke of a post game show with Dick, or through long time LSU fans whose opinions I respect, it seems that there are three schools of thought regarding Les's future:

a) Les needs to go and I don't care who his replacement is
b) I only want Les replaced if we can find "the right guy"
c) Give Les one more year

I tend to fall in the category of B. With that in mind, who would be a realistic replacement for Les?

1) Jimbo Fisher---I don't see Jimbo leaving a school that he won a National Championship with and more importantly, a school that he has a more likely chance of winning a second national championship in a quicker time frame.

2) Dabo Swinney---If Dabo wins a national championship with Clemson, see my statement above. If Clemson folds like they usually do, Dabo played on Bama's 1992 National Championship team, has made it clear that coaching Bama is his dream job and could potentially leave LSU for Bama once Nick Saban leaves.

3) Gary Patterson---Is he a better coach than Les Miles? Probably. Would he have lead LSU over Bama in at least two of the five losses going back to 01.09.12? Possibly. Will Gary Patterson ever leave TCU? Probably not.

4) Justin Fuente or Tom Herman---One of these two will probably be LSU's most realistic replacements for Les should he be asked to step down. I'm not real worried about Herman's new $3 million annual salary getting in the way of him jumping on I-10 and heading east. I'm also not worried about Memphis's "extraordinary offer" being written up for Justin Fuente. Either of these offers would put them in the lower half of the SEC in regards to annual salary.

If LSU comes to the conclusion Les needs to be replaced, either Fuente or Herman, in my opinion, would be the most realistic Head Coach for LSU in 2016.

You're probably really stupid if you think those are the two most realistic options. Especially given that they said they wanted a coach with experience.

The only ones that are even remotely possible that you listed are Fuente and Herman, and both are pretty much names being mentioned in every HC job across the country right now.

I know everyone wants Jimbo, and I want Jimbo too, but I just don't see it happening. He won a NC 2 years ago at his current program. They are still doing well there. They have a stacked roster. The best excuse people have for why he would leave is that he got divorced. Seriously?

Everyone is dreaming too big right now.

It's like when Tennessee was looking for a coach, and there was all this hype for Gruden, and then they got Butch and everyone was butthurt. But it's starting to turn around for them now (key word: starting). LSU isn't going to hire who everyone expects, and everyone will probably be upset, but you just have to have faith.

You can't always hire the proven commodity. Sometimes you have to create them. Guys like Saban and Urban didn't just appear one day as T1 coaches.

We're not getting Fisher, Swinney, or Patterson.

Fuente and Herman are the caliber of coaches we'll be looking at. Hopefully they work out. I like Fuente a lot.

LSU is as good of a job is there is in the country. I don't think they should be counted out of anything.

I like the town of Fulshear, but your responses are always terrible.

So Tom Herman has no experience? He was calling the plays that lead Ohio State to the National Championship just a season ago. He lead Houston to a 10-0 record in a conference in which they were picked to finish fifth.

Are you also implying that if you could push a button that would send Les packing and bring in Tom Herman, you wouldn't push it?

Let's face some realities:
1) Fisher is the Head Coach at FSU and will be the head coach at FSU for the next decade...LSU is not that much better of a job , in fact it may be worse.

2) Dabo Sweeney ...will be Head Coach at Clemson next year and for at least another 4-5 beyond that.

3) Gary Patterson - ahhhhhh, no, and when push comes to shove, no one at LSU has the Amon Carter family money to throw at Patterson.

4) LSU will look for someone who can build a long term program and Sweeney is not your guy because of the whole Bama thing ...."when mama calls...."

5) LSU will look to someone with dynamic offensive ideas...personally I like enticing Chip Kelly, but I'm thinking the chances on that are about 1 in 4.

6) Anyone with delusions of thinking about Mike Gundy....see the TCU thing and replace the Carter name with T. Boone Pickens.

7)Tom Herman needs more seasoning, only one year at Houston. Fuente is intriguing but like I said, intriguing, he does know how to evaluate talent though ...see Paxton Lynch

8) Aleva may try to pluck someone from out west, don't be surprised if J. L. Mora's name surfaces as well as Sonny Dykes or Kleiman at North Dakota State...he routinely beats FBS teams
