We have to move somebody to the OLB spot and move baker in as MLB surely, so who do you think is the best option?? I say Ron Brooks or hatcher...

Baker will not be moved inside. Minter will start at MLB.

no we don't.

and if that does happen, I'd imagine Barrow would take Baker's spot since he backs up that side.

Alot of ppl say it won't happen with Mingo when in all reality he played alot of LB in Highschool and is built for the LB position they liked his speed for the end which is why he was put at DE

Minter isn't that new or anything. He's been on the team for 2 years, both under Chavis, both getting tutored by Sheppard. Safe to say he has the system down.

Baker would make a very small MLB.

Baker might make a small MLB but he's a Pitt Bull... But that's why I started this thread for thoughts on the LB situation which to me is where we need our attention on I just hop it isn't a weakness this year

Baker should be big enough if needed. he's not big, but he's not a smurf and he should be able to pack on a few more lbs. and hell, at last check, Minter actually weighed less than Baker.

lol wut? He is only like 6'0 180 which can even be considered small for a safety, let alone a LB.

MLB needs to be able to shed blocks very quickly and plug holes, this is why size and strength are so necessary. Baker fits his position on the outside well because he's good in coverage and fast enough to stop the run on the outside, however i would worry about his ability to shed blocks from centers and guards on a regular basis.

Tbh, I actually like the idea of Baker as the Mike...a Jonathan Vilma type of MLB. In fact, with the current players, our defense could look a lot like the defense Greg Williams has constructed in New Orleans, with the exception being that LSU has better pass rushers on the defensive line. Linebacker and secondary, from a personnel perspective could be very similar.

WILL
Barrow (6'2, 230)
Muncie (6'3, 225)

MIKE
Baker (6'0, 230)
Welter (6'0, 230)

SAM
Francois (6'1, 215)
Jones (6'2, 210)

Ryan is pretty confident in his block shedding abilities...

exactly

Why it's important: Hatcher is not confident about his ability to lay a big hit on a receiver running a post route.
