Go back through the drive charts and look at his touches in the first half...

The really important thing might be who finishes, not who starts.

I think either could do pretty well, provided the blocking continues to improve.

I am more concerned about the play of both lines, though improvement has taken place, the accuracy and success of LSU's passing attack and if the defense can limit the Rebels and play far better than they did vs. Mspi. St. and Auburn.

I think Magee because he is a better receiving option and pass protector. I think we actually try to throw earlier in this one.

UK's run D is not good, but again, Magee entered the game on the 2nd series of the game and had consecutive runs of 11, 2 and 4 (which was 4 more yards than Fournette had on five carries at that point). Also, Magee had that 38-yard run and 9-yard TD run on consecutive runs on the 1st offensive series of the 2nd half (one play after Fournette had run two times for 3 yards). Let's be fair here.

Good point.

I'll add that, for whatever reason, on some of Magee's runs the offensive line decimated the Kentucky front. And being the high-character class act he is, he credited the blockers in the post-game interview with Maria Taylor. He also referred to the fullbacks as "flashlights." Great metaphor.

Then you look back at some of those runs by Fournette, and the interior of the offensive line was not getting it done. There were a number of times where LBs were cutting through to make the tackle on Fournette because a guard or center was not able to get to the second level to pick up the block. The interior was up-and-down throughout the game. Sometimes they looked good, other times they just simply got beat, or didn't pick up their block. On the other hand, the tackles and TEs were exceptional, and they had a much tougher matchup vs. UK.

I don't how this myth started, I know where it started but the first carry of Magee had was in the first quarter and was for 11 yds against Kentucky.

Magee was on the hills of Jeremy Hill last season for best running back.

Just like UK. Fournette starts and bears on them for a quarter and a half, then Williams and Hilliard beat on the for a quarter, then Magee comes in and cleans up the mess.

Honest question: How well does Fournette block? That's always been a big requirement of RBs at LSU under Miles, but LF seems to get the handoff anytime he's in the game, so I wonder how much he's being utilized in that regard.

I think no question it should be Magee.

I disagree. I think you start Fournette, and let Magee come in and do what he does best. Some guys are better off as the second back. That seems to be the case with Magee. IDK if it is a psychological thing, or what.
