Were there not others interested in the position? It seems like this was one of the worst hires in the history of LSU athletics.

Well anyone who wanted Radacovich, keep in mind he hired Johnson at GA Tech and hired some bad basketball coaches as well.

He inherited Dabo at Clemson and forced out longtime baseball coach Leggett.

John V. Lombardi? Alleva followed Skip so I don't know if he influenced the hire.

Lombardi was fired by the way.

Skip's hires were Alleva (he influenced Lombardi)
Smoke Laval
Les Miles
Van Chancellor
Manieri
and I believe Trent Johnson

Ok Les and PaulManieri won NC's at LSU so they were very good hires. Van Chancellor was questionable but he was already a HoF coach. Smoke was a bad hire but he did take us to a few cws'. Skip made up for that by hiring CPM after that.

Skip won 5 NC's at LSU as head coach and 2 more as AD's and one more via a man he hired. We owe him some. Besides, if Skip was hiring, we would do better.

Skip would not be allowed to hire his own replacement. That would have been done by the Chancellor and the Board (as it has been done in previous years). It's a good thing too as we may have gotten someone even worse than JA. Remember, Skip was not a very good AD.....he ran off our track coach and our women's BB coach; both who were world class. Truth be known, Skip was very jealous of other coaches' success while he was baseball coach (especially Pat Henry).
