Mett was #5 and Murray was #11(obviously). Here are some highlights from the game. We have some UGA fans on here stating Murray was better. I personally believe Mett was better.

neither was ever named the starter, of course UGA fans are gonna say Murray was better and was gonna win the job, because they dont want to admit they are stuck with the weaker of the 2.

I assure you I'm a better poster at 34 than I was at 32.

I'm friends with a huge UGA homer and even he admits that Mett had the upper hand in the QB battle at that time.

I believe his name was Michael Tamburo (5'11) looking at their 2010 roster.

Who looked better in the LSU spring game last year?

I'll give you two hints...
quote:

Mettenberger had by far the best performance of the quarterbacks in the spring game. He went 5-of-8 for 86 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half, the only points allowed by the Tiger’s first-team defense.

quote:

On many occasions, Jefferson sat in the pocket for over five seconds before being sacked, having the ball stripped, or gaining minimal yards by scrambling too late.

Yea.

For what it’s worth, we were tailgating at the SEC Championship in the RV Park next to a big time Georgia booster. We saw and spoke to a couple of past Georgia football players who stopped by us to taste some fried fish and shrimp. One DT (forgot his name) sat with us for a while who was on the team with Mett and Murray. He stated that Mett clearly was the better QB over Murray. He said he witnessed it himself. He also said he didn’t think we (LSU) realized the caliber of QB we had in Mett. He said to get ready for an air show next year and we were going to see them in the SEC Championship again next year.

And most of us are excited expecting that Mett would also be improved since then.

Thanks for posting the vid.

Yeah, it's clear that both fanbases will disagree. The UGA homers will always say that this video is the only reason to suspect that Mett would have won the job, and that the true start was Murray. LSU fans will look at the video and say there's no way you could expect Mett to not be the starter.

TIFWIW, the couple of UGA boosters I know, and a former player that was on the '80 NC Team, all tell me to this day that Mett was well on his way to being the starter from everything the saw/heard/gathered.

Either way, time to watch the video again.
