Who has been to a baseball game in Starkvegas?

My bud and I are looking at airbnbs. We will probably get there right at game time on Friday and stay the night for Saturday's game. Are there any gameday/trip details I should be aware of? Ease of purchasing tickets, parking, time of arrival, nightlife (ha), etc...

It's going to be a madhouse over there with the west being on the line

We are going but we bought our tickets for Thursday and Friday months ago on StubHub. Only bleacher GA tickets on Stubhub now for Friday's game.

Last time I went was 2009 and it was very easy finding tickets for reasonable prices. Granted State wasn't what they are now back then but their fans are very accommodating . I also just drove from my house in Memphis the day of the game so not sure about lodging but I assume it's scarce. I'd imagine finding somewhere in Birmingham or Tupelo wouldn't be a bad option

Been a few times. Remember 1986 or so very well. They set the college baseball attendance record at the time against LSU. We knew someone who had one of the trucks out behind the outfield fence. I was just a kid and that shite was wild. Reminded me old LSU football atmosphere.
I'm sure it's gotten pretty lame these days.

Sure...I go to both football and baseball games at state every year. first off, Starkville is a very small town, so if you are looking for dining and bars to compare to baton rouge or new Orleans, do yourself a favor and do something else.
the bars are mainly in a pretty cool little area near campus called the cotton district...it is basically a couple of blocks of bars with patios, so the whole thing kinda spills out into the street. of course, with school being out, it may be kinda quiet.
the good food is at Harvey's, The Grill, Cappy's Steakhouse, The Little Dooey Barbecue, etc.
If you want to just hang out and eat and drink a few beers or drinks, go to The Grill or Mugshots downtown.
Similar to LSU in that baseball games are logistically a lot easier to deal with than football games, so parking and travel should not be much of an issue.
the fans are very nice and accommodating, but don't go getting all slobbering drunk or you will find yourself in the Starkvegas jail for a night.
There are a few hotels in town...Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, LaQuinta, Comfort Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Courtyard Mariott, Etc. I don't know how badly they fill up for baseball, but chose wisely and you can walk to dudy noble field from your hotel. basically, you'll want to stay somewhere along highway 12 if possible, as that is the main commercial drag in town.
if you have more questions, just ask...I may post more here as I think of it.
ETA: you can get print-at-home tickets to most games from the school for about $10 through their website (hailstate.com).

I'd highly recommend it. Seriously.

Ease of purchasing tickets
Just walk up to the gate and buy a general admission ticket for $10. Take any available bleacher seat, roam the left field lounge, lawn chair in right field, or stand where you can.
If you want in they don't quit selling tickets. It gets really crowded when it gets over 13,000 people.
Bring a cooler full of beer but drink it from a cup. They don't usually check coolers. If they happen to check your cooler at the main gate. Reverse course and proceed to the Left Field Lounge gate.
