Since I don't watch the Saints, the answer was easy!
I gave up on the Saints when Haslett and Brooks were doing their thing!

I still love the Saints, and make a handful of games per year. I'd love to make them all, but it's tough making it down there after a big LSU home game and impossible when making LSU road games. Without an LSU game this weekend, I'm thinking about making the game.

I haven't missed an LSU home game in over 10 years, and I hate to think what it will take to end my streak (and it certainly won't be an NFL game).

LSU/Troy and it isn't even close. However, I'd watch a Saints game over any of the other 119 NCAA Football teams playing each other when LSU's not involved, and it isn't one of the 5 BCS games.

Anybody who would rather watch Troy at LSU instead of Tampa Bay at New Orleans just doesn't really know much about football...
I feel pretty neutral as well - I am a season ticket holder to both LSU and the Saints (and the Hornets), I'm an LSU alum, I live in New Orleans now, and I split my LSU/Saints/Hornets affection 33/33/33% each.

If it was a foregone conclusion that LSU would destroy Troy, and we didn't have so many question marks this year, I would answer Saints, but LSU is an unknown this year, so there is still intrigue against these OOC teams.

If we didn't dominate Appy State so thoroughly I would be a tad bit more hesitant.
And obviously you take pretty much any LSU game v's an SEC opponent over a Saints regular season game, because college football is pretty much double elimination for the entire season. The Saints could lose 7 games and still have a shot at the playoffs.
ETA: What if Miles puts on a 1-quarter scrimmage this weekend to try and keep fresh - starting offense against starting defense? Wouldn't that be about equal to 3 quarters of lackluster football against Troy?

it seems as obviously you dont know much about football...just because we dominated App. State doesnt mean anything towards Troy and if you are such a football genius you would know Troy's offense is almost a clone of Auburn's so it mite would help us prepare better

you could always switch back to the lsu game at halftime once the bucs are up 36-3
Posted on 9/3/08 at 2:15 pm to 12gauge
that wouldn't be possible...the saints play on sunday!

Are you kidding me? If you gave ME the choice of attending one or the other, it would be an easy choice of LSU. My allegiances to LSU are much stronger than with the Saints (grew up near campus, entire family went there, have multiple degrees from LSU, etc.). With the tv schedules these days, you maybe get the chance to spend 4-5 nights in Tiger Stadium per year. I'm sorry, I'm not going to pass on that opportunity to watch game one of an NFL season. It has nothing do with your knowledge of football, but where your heart lies. My LSU football weekend starts on Friday night while dining with family and friends, all day tailgating with friends and family then watching LSU play, and ends with lunch on Sunday with family and friends watching the Saints play.
