I am sorry if you do not understand how a redshirt works.

An obvious redshirt runs the scout team, thats his job. Whether he is in tune with the playbook is up to the individual coaching staff or not, whether the expect him to see playing time or not.

He really is.

But as I have always said:

Lee's margin for error--16 INT's.

JJ's margin for error-- not so much.

If LSU was 3-0, and Jarrett Lee was the starting QB with the same stats, you wouldn't hear a peep from anyone.

Especially not from me--I just want to win.

But I guess many of the "fans" here have other issues that supersede winning.

I don't really care either way because neither are perfect. Lee looked like total shite last year, but last night, against ULL, Jefferson didn't look too great. Sure, we crushed them, but if that was an SEC defense, there's a pick 6 or two.

None of them look all-world. Remember, Lee looked solid at the outset too.

P.S. - The Slacker fellow is right. Redshirts study opponents a ton more than their own playbook.

How so? The coaching staff knows before the season the players they are going to redshirt based on practice. Those that they have decided to redshirt are placed on scout squad. The scout squad is given film on opposing team for the upcoming week and told to learn the mannerisms of certain players and how they play on field. They are given journals where they write down anything that stands out to them and then during the week they work on that against first team defense or offense.

Why is this so hard for you to understand? Because it is not about race? Is that why you cannot understand it?

I never said they do not get to look at playbook. I stated that during the week they learn the opposing teams plays to run them in practice. They are in each of their respective unit meetings, during fall practice/spring practice they get too look and work plays out of playbook. Once the season starts however they are busy with other things than learning the playbook.
Practice players have a lot of responsibility to do during the week to help prepare the team. They are much like an extra coach as they watch game film, pick up nuances of opposing teams/players, write down notes from what they say, and then implement it in practice.
I am glad to see you are good at attempting to put words in the mouth of other posters.

He and offdacorner are blinded by their racial profiling to understand what a player who is going to be redshirted does.

I'm not sure how Coach Miles runs his program but I know for a fact that some coaches don't give red-shirt freshman the playbook until their red-shirt season is over. Their job is to mimic the opponent and they don't want them distracted from their job. It's all part of that team concept that some around here don't quite understand.

Yep--Jarrett Lee being on the team a a full year more than Jordan Jefferson actually helped JJ when you think about it.

Poor JL--he wasn't allowed to learn anything while he was in his redshirt year. Poor guy was kept in the dark.

But this Jordan Jefferson guy--as soon as he stepped on campus everything was made available to him.

But, like the "fan" stated earlier in the thread, JJ chose not to learn the playbook.

I know Saban gave his redshirt players smaller version of the playbook to understand. That way in case players were sick/injured/etc and they needed an extra body someone would be prepared.

Once the season actually began though the players had a list of things they had to do to get ready for the week. They had coaches they had to meet with every day to discuss what they watched, noticed, etc. Everyone had a notebook and they had to fill it out with notes of whoever LSU was to play the week before.

You people with agendas should just admit it. You would go nuts if Lee were to regain the job and succeed.

For that reason alone, I hope Lee gets an opportunity to redeem himself before his career is over.
