Lange's early troubles but then showing the grit to pitch spectacular or Puk throwing 7 great innings but, I guess I'll call it "fading"

Both players delivered very impressive performances, the scouts had to love what they saw.

It's potential, a lefty throwing mid to upper 90s barely has to hit the catchers mitt to be an early first round pick , Lange will get drafted high but they're are many Langes out there , a guy like Puk you don't see all that often ....

Take off your glasses. Puk is raw, unrefined and still both filling out and learning how to pitch. Yet he's got a quick movement to the plate and is touching 98 mph with a wipeout curve and excellent command of his fastball. He's also capable of changing speeds very well.

He was a total and complete monster that only allowed 2 runners to advance into scoring position through 7. He still only gave up 2 ER through 7+ IP.

You make yourself look like a completely unobjective homer with your post.

That play he made on Freeman's bunt might have been the most important thing the scouts saw out of him last night. They know what he his stuff is and that he is raw. Upper 90's from the left side is extremely rare.

You have to have command of 4 pitches to make it in MLB. Thats why some people are in the Minors after 6 Seasons.

Puk may be the next Randy Johnson.

Yeah Tim Wakefield had a lot of nasty stuff.
Mariano Rivera had one pitch pretty much.

If you want to be a starter, yeah, you probably need at least 3 pitches that you have a great handle on. There are outliers.

and there aren't a bunch of Lange's walking around. His curveball is elite. He struck out 11 in 7 innings last night, while not being able to locate his fastball most of the night and throwing curves all night.

I think that Lange is further along progression wise than Puk. Puk is still raw and is going to be a stud. Not saying that Lange won't be too

Thank you for mentioning Rivera, for one. Hes only a hall of famer based on 1 pitch. Maybe he meant starter, which is more like 3 pitches, not 4.

Not if your fastball is at or above 98

That was a great bunt, but his play on the ball was even better!

Puk is definitely the better skillset. One thing I was really impressed with Lange was on pitch 107 of the game he still hit 94 on the radar.

Puk is a rare talent. Huge arm lefty throwing in the high 90's with a super high and quick release. Not to mention a curve that drops like 4 feet.

Lange is a great pitcher with some heat of his own and its a big league trait that he gets better as games go on, but Puk is something you rarely ever see in baseball.

That was a great play and showed off some extreme athleticism from a 6'7" freak of nature. A lot of pitchers either eat that or air mail it over the first baseman's head.

Puk is the next Randy Johnson. 98 from the left side at 6'7"? He's not staying in the minors for 6 seasons.

This is not close to accurate. Will Harris was on Mascona show yesterday talking about how he hasn't thrown a change up all year long and is pitching great. He has 2 great pitches.

To be a starter, it is nice to have a pretty good third pitch.
