1996 with 2009 right behind them.

2008 would be my favorite overall though.

I was actually there at teh CWS that year my junior year in HS.

Lyle Mouton hit one of the longest bombs in the history of CWS in game 1 against florida's John Burke.

Was a fun series.

2009 had the best overall game from start to finish. Game 1 was incredible.

Great thread! 1997 was my favorite team for sure, hitting a home run in all 70 games was a feat that will probably never be duplicated, and I'm sure it will be awhile before 188 home runs in a season will be touched.

I was at the 2000 Championship Game, and that was a great experience for me. Seeing the Blair Barbier and Jeremy Witten HRs land right in front of me were awesome, and running on the field and getting tackled by security after the game ranks as one of the greatest moments of my life.

Then there was Warren Morris in 1996! Wow! One of the best games I've seen, no matter the sport, in LSU history. The only game that tops it for me as far as overall sports experiences go is the 2009 NFC Championship Game. I'm surprised ESPN hasn't devoted a 30 for 30 special on the Warren Morris homer. The only HR he hit that year, and it was a walk-off, CWS Championship homer. Awesome.

This, and the fact that we beat Alabama for it. What an afterparty at Barret's.

In 98', we (6 of us) watched the first game vs USC from Brew Bachers on Nicholson which, of course, LSU lost. We were supposed to be leaving after that game to head back up to Omaha since they were going for the three-peat that year. After the loss, we all looked at each other and said, "There's no way those assholes can beat us twice" and promptly drove all night to get to Omaha in time for round two vs. USC. The rest is history. The weather turned cold, the bats went dead and LSU was out. Well, we've got a couple more days of vaca and my Mom's family lives in St. Louis and also owns Cards season tickets. Remember, this was when Sosa and McGuire were locked up for the HR title. Needless to say, not a wasted trip!

We beat USC the first time in 1998, then beat Mississippi State, then lost to USC twice. It was crazy how the weather turned cold and the wind shifted. Changed the series completely.

We hit a ton of homers in that first USC game. Not sure if that record still stands.

96 and Warren Morris. I can't believe that this is really a question. No other moment comes close.
