Certain things are out of the hands of a head coach; i.e, you can preach and practice free throws incessantly (which we probably do), but when a 70%+ free throw shooter misses six in a row, what can you do? You can tell players who not to foul and they may still do it (one would hope LSU had been told by the staff not to foul the 90% shooter they kept fouling at the end of the game). But its just flat indefensible that for the last two minutes of regulation last night, Tim Quarterman was not on the court. He was unquestionably their best player last night (Hornsby made most of the key shots; but Quarterman played a heady, excellent game). How in the hell can he not be on the court in the last two minutes? How could you prefer Gray or Patterson at that point? Just all together stupid on Jones and his staff for that happening.

Gray should have not even played a single minute in overtime or towards the end of the game.

He looks incompetent since his ankle injury. Before the injury, he had his ups and downs, but it's been all down lately. Hope he can turn it around because we really need him.

Sounds good theoretically. But he is the only player who can easily create his own shot, and it easily could have been needed.

Patterson was the most efficient scorer last night so that's might be why TQ wasn't in the game but there was no reason to have gray out there over TQ

No it doesnt just sound good in theory. Gray had no business on the court in crunch time. None. He didnt create one shot last night unless you mean shots for Mizzou.

For TQ to not be on the court was just flat out a mistake by JJ. No other way to say it.

Gray is probably the best at penatrating a zone and he made some good passes we just failed to hit the shot.

Quarterman made the only 2 points in OT, then he gets benched. Why??

Bad coaching.

Gray probably made 3 good passes the entire game.

OK, I'll just say it for everyone. Exactly which game were you watching where Gray threw those good passes.

Gray was the worst player on the floor by far last night.

Was he nervous or something? He looked like a high school player last night. I mean, he was dribbling off his feet, and even his simple half court passes were errant.

but yeah even though JJ should have had Q in the game, it's hard for me to blame the coach when our players are letting passes slip in between their hands, throwing the ball out of bounds, dribbling off their foot, just making stupid turnovers. You can't coach them to catch the damn ball.

No gray was awful last night, and I'd rather have Tq in then him in ot but he had a good pass to Mickey missed a jumper and one to Patterson I think.

It's been painful to watch him play recently. Our best lineup right now is:

Patterson
Hornsby
TQ
Jarell
Mickey

I also hated starting that game with Odo. Teams don't have to guard him and can clog the lane for Mickey and Martin. That killed us for the first 4 minutes or so.

I think I'd like to see Darcy take some of Elbert's minutes. He was lost last night.

Not sure why Odo has a scholly to be honest. He shows absolutely nothing that translates to playing college basketball. He tries his hardest I understand and hopefully he's a good guy to have in the locker room. But how bad must Robinson/Darcy must be to not be able to take minutes from them. Robinson has alot of maturing to do you can see it on his face in the huddles and on the bench. Elbert when you get time...Produce and you will earn more minutes same thing goes for Epps.

Epps gets in the game gets beat for a bucket, then gets a rebound and throws it straight to Missouri. He could be so productive in the full court press if he could just put it together somewhat. Can you imagine, QT, Martin, Epps, Mickey and Hornsby or even Gray when his head is right. That could be a scary full court press.

I didn't like the way Patterson's minutes were handled either. If my memory serves me correctly, he hardly played or didn't play at all the first 10-12 minutes of the second half after being arguably the best Tiger on the court in the 1st half. It's so frustrating because that was a winnable game, but we made too many errors and Mizzou shot lights out at the end of the 2nd half.

He in no way can create his own shot. He's too short.
WHatever shot he can create, is not one i want him taking. Pass the ball around and penetrate to create an open shot.

Agreed. I know Malone is foul-prone but he is much more nimble than ER who is obviously in the throes of big-man growing pains which does happen. He will get more agile with time, probably by next season but right now he's just not able to keep up with SEC athletes. Malone also has an offensive game.
