Taking the Mrs. for a little weekend jaunt to Samarkand to check out the sites (mosques and the like), and want to break away for the game. Would like to try introducing a few Muslim folks to Guice, Fournette and Etling, and maybe throw a few purple and gold mardi gras beads around the joint....see if i can get any broads to lift their burkas for me. Any help would be appreciated!

Last time I was there I watched the game at Louie's. The TV's are kinda small but it was still ok.

Seems like a strange place to go for a long weekend. But have fun.

Oh, and that kick time will be, what 5 a.m. local time? Gonna have a hard time getting anyone to hike up anything at that time of morning.

Thanks. Thats the second rec I got for that place! Must be a happening place. Also, any idea if infidels are frowned upon in this establishment? Me and the old lady are pretty easy going and make friends wherever we go, so I dont expect to have any troubles...but sometimes there is a bad apple in the crowd. (Anywhere we go, we usually just announce loudly and proudly that we're Americans, and the drinks start flowing.)

Not if you're a good sport about everything. The trivia is rigged though, so if you answer some soccer question with Real Madrid, knowing that is right, but they show the correct answer is Pakhtakor, just go along. Don't get the ranch dip with the fries. Ranch dip over there is made with camel shite.

Lived, and worked there 3 years. Very friendly people. You'll have no problems like that.

The Hotel Samarkan is ok (actually been there) but if you want to bet on the game, ya gotta go to the open air market in Bukara.
