I have only been to one game in College Station. It was 1987 and we were not aware that the team stayed at the Holiday Inn in Huntsville until we arrived that morning and saw the cheerleaders in the swimming pool.
That afternoon one of the players missed the team bus to the game. He thought we were joking until he saw the bus on the road. My neighbor sprinted across the service road and waved the bus down as it was approaching the highway. Ralph Norwood arrived about a minute later and boarded. Sadly, he was killed in an automobile accident the next season in Atlanta.
Henry Thomas was a rookie with the Vikings. He was wearing camo trousers and a black tee shirt and looked huge. Thomas ran up and down the bench the entire game encouraging his former teammates. Tigers 17-3.
