Both Brian Kelly and Buddy Songy mentioned a “1 hour bus ride” on Saturday morning. I’ve been to Stark Vegas for a game many years ago and we stayed in nearby Columbus. That was only 25 miles from the MSU campus. I’m not sure that I like the kids sitting in a bus for an hour with a kickoff a few hours later. What gives?

If the players don’t have the mental fortitude to withstand a 1 hour bus ride before the game, we have much bigger problems than I think we have.

I believe this is the case when we go to Florida. The team has stayed in Ocala in the past.

I’m not saying that the kids can’t handle it. It just seems so unnecesary to me. They are having breakfast at 7:20a. Let assume that is done by 8 or 8:15. Even if the bus leaves the hotel at 8:30, they will arrive at the stadium at 9:30 for an 11a kickoff. Just seems weird to me.

Prpbably Tupelo I would guess. They have stayed here a number of years in the past when playing at State. Hilton Garden Inn.

ETA: Richard Dixon said on the Hannycast today that the hour bus ride would be a good thing.

Well, he knows a hell of a lot more than I do, so OK.

I didn’t word the OP correctly, but it’s not really the bus ride, per se, but more of arriving at the stadium at 9:30 or even 10am for an 11:07 kickoff. Hope the bus doesn’t get a flat, or breakdown.

No worries. Thanks for the responses. Geaux Tigers!

Yes Tupelo. Many teams stay away from the city where the game is played & drive in to avoid all the distractions.
We will probably depart from the Golden Triangle airport as it is very close & get back home early.
We do the same at Auburn. Stay in Montgomery & then fly out of nearby Columbus Ga.
Teams will also fly into B'ham, sleep there & fly back out of Tuscaloosa.

Well with breakfast at 7:20, the earliest they can arrive would be 9a. That would mean that over 100 players, coaches and staff finish breakfast and load the busses by 8am. That’s a reach. Is arriving at the stadium at 9:30 ok with you? I have no idea what the schedule is. What’s your opinion?

I’m a fan. Not my concern. There are people paid to worry about all that.

Of all the things I’m worried about, where the team stays and rides in from are the least of my concerns.

Waking up on time and having the chicken n waffles ready for brunch kickoff is more of a concern. I hate an 11 am kick. But sometimes we just have to.
