Answer the question dummy, and stop stalking my post. I truly thought tamu would kick LSU arse.

Maybe so, maybe not, but threads with no purpose but to cause a fracture in the fan base are under high scrutiny, and not from me.

What question? You are starting a thread that knocks the last 6 LSU qbs. Those guys won 3 sec titles and 2 national titles.

Diaf as far as I'm concerned.

I guess that's why my Nick Saban post was deleted twice, but in all honesty, it wasn't meant to cause a fracture in any way. It was basically a poll question, love him or hate him you know?

I compared the hype around their initial performances, and said not a single word about comparing them as QB talents.

what is this

only 2 qbs of the past decade were not good and because they were fairly recent everyone is going overboard.

jordan jefferson and jarrett lee were never natural qbs. never.

mettenberger instantly you could tell he was natural and the same goes for jennings. both have showed command and pocket awareness. i don't care about a peach bowl in which an LSU team outmatched an inferior GT, jefferson was still under 50% completion percentage in 7 games.

LETS CLEAR UP this peach bowl stuff

For the entire game in which LSU beat the crap out of GT.. Jefferson managed a whopping 142 YDS, and 1 TD passing?

Um.. Jennings did all that virtually in one drive. So what are people talking about comparing the two? It's really not fair to the guys here now. Of course you shouldn't expect the best, but at the same time you should not expect the worst.. There's nothing wrong with being excited about the future.. and if it doesn't work out, you still got incredible talent all around regardless who winds up.

Again most importantly.. you got Coach Cam coaching these guys up.. Even Mettenberger this season was a night and day difference (in his only season with Coach Cam.). You got the talent and he will direct it into success.

Yes they won titles but none was considered the best ever at LSU. NONE of them has a legacy that stands with tebow, Cam or aj, hell you can even throw eli in there and he did not come close to sniffing a title.

It can't be Jennings because he was highyl touted. To be a diamand in the rough you have to be under the radar and we won't have an opportunity at a diamond in the rough for at least 4 more years.

No diamond in the rough, but we do have an Elite 11 Regional MVP

and even then we have top flight recruits to take over the position... hayden rettig, brandon harris, whoever comes down next year

future is so bright

Jennings was pretty highly recruited, so I don't think he would be considered a "diamond in the rough"

Jennings would be considered a diamond in the rough, hewas not even recruited by his own in state powerhouse uga. He was not recruited by powerhouse programs such as uf, fsu, miami, nd, bama, aubie, texas, ohio st or oklahoma. If he becomes a superstar he would be LSU's diamond in the rough.

And we see how that turned out. We had a lot of success, but Jefferson was not the elite QB we thought despite his stellar entrance.

Well after traveling to Washington the first game of 2009, he threw 3 TDs. Finished with 2300 yards and 18 TDs to 7 ints. His running backs (including Shepard) managed a little over 1500 yards for the season and 15 TDs.

Zach managed 2600 yards 12 TDs and 7 ints after a spring with UGA, a JUCO year, and a year on the bench. His running backs (including Shepard) managed 2500 rushing yards and 29 TDs.

What people need to realize is that JJ played really well for his first year starting despite how terrible his run game was. I am 100% sure that if he had Cam Cameron in 2010, we would have went undefeated. His regression made absolutely no sense.

We will be loaded next year with talent and I'm talking five star ready to contribute talent behind guys like Dural, Leslie, Spears, Diarse, an Peterson. Fournette Magee Boo and Brazil will create a ridiculous backfield. Jennings will have a lot of toys to play with in Cam's offense. You will really see HUNH next year.

Stop posting. I agree with Big Ed, all you did in this "gem" of a thread is bash the last 6 LSU QBs. Nice.

Enough already. You're a complete moron if you don't see what we have in the current QB department.

Is Jennings that guy? I damn sure hope so.

I hope so too, but my opinion is that he isn't. Out of last years recruiting class, I liked Rettig better. Before its said, nothing to do with race; I think he looked to be a better pocket passer, which IMO is what we need. We don't need another QB who spends all his time trying to run (and this forcing the coaching staff to waste time designing plays for him to run) when we clearly have backs who are more than capable of grinding out yards. Zach was a perfect match for us because he provided the other shade of that and made huge plays in the passing game, but at the same time had no problem handing the ball off.

I'm hoping the presence of Cam will stop us from trying to run with the QB but I have an itching feeling that it won't. If not, we WILL have another JJ. Period. We NEED A QB WHO PASSES. End of story.

To clarify, I am not speaking at all about scrambling; obviously it is a great skill and I have no issue with it. The lack of it is Mett's biggest weakness. I'm talking more about DESIGNED runs like we tried to run with JJ all the time. Or the horrible option shite we did with him (see: the "fumble" on 1/9 where JJ basically handed the ball to the defender).

The big thing is that we really shouldn't read too much into his good performance vs. Arkansas.

Here's what I got..
The 99 yard drive that LSU completed to win that game was the 3rd successful 99 yard drive since 2005.
I'll assume it was the first one with a freshman QB. let alone.. a freshman center.. and receiver. playing huge roles.
His confidence and poise was off the charts.
did not appear to be unfounded arrogance (like JJ sometimes had)
I'm not "reading too much into it".. but it's certainly not a bad sign.. and, I believe, a lot more encouragement than we've seen in the past!
I'm excited.
