It's disrespectful to the players and the families of the 1908 team not to recognize it. They need to pick a home game next year and bring in the families/descendants of the players and honor the 1908 team, hoist the flag, and formally recognize it.
It's a very easy thing to make happen and is long overdue.

The schools agreed to the selection criteria for bowl placement. The bowls agreed to release teams to the designated BCS title game based on those selection criteria. The AFCA agreed that the BCS title game winner would be crowned #1 in its post-bowl final poll guaranteeing the winner would have recognition as a national champion. Nothing in any of that granted recognition as THE national champion, especially given no contract or agreement was signed with the AP.

LSU was the only unbeaten team that season. The National achampionship Foundation, the highest ranking agency of the NCAA, awarded LSU the 1908 National Title. This would give them 5 outright National Titles. It's theirs. But LSU want ever claim it. Tennessee has officially only 2 national titles. They will have 3 after this season if they get by Georgia. It's smooth sailing after that game. LSU. Do the right thing. Claim the 1908 NATIONAL TITLE.
