When does the final 2024 baseball roster have to be determined and submitted?

Either Thursday or Friday.

But we already know almost entirely how it will shake out.

Lape, Seo, Cooley, and either Thompson or Shores will redshirt (maybe both).

Thompson is an interesting one to me. I know Jay mentioned him redshirting but he has been effective pitching in the spring. Does not have the velo other guys have but he is getting guys out. Through 7 innings in the spring he has not given up a run, 1.14 WHIP, and has 8Ks.

Just goes to show that velocity isn’t everything.

I’m guessing Jay must be planning on redshirting because of 1. It’s a numbers game and we need to get down some players 2. He must like the progression path he’s on and thinks he can make a significant leap with another year.

His fall outings were not very good at all. I'm assuming that is why Jay mentioned him redshirting. That was before the spring scrimmages though. Will be curious if his spring outings changed Jay's mind at all. They have to at least be thinking hard about it. Especially with the amount of games early in the season to hold onto a spot for Shores who might not even be ready for postseason. Tough call to make.
