Our blocking on punt returns hasn't been great, at least to my eyes. Most of the time there are 1-2 guys right in Stingley's face when he catches the ball.

LSU is #22 in the nation in yards/return, but #42 in the nation in returns/game. Stingley is #20 in the nation in yards/return, but #31 in returns/game. Meanwhile, LSU is tied for #13 in the nation in opposing punts per game.

Not that it matters.. as others have stated, he could fair catch every single one and it wouldn't matter with this offense. But I do think if he had more opportunities to actually field punts, we would see him make some big time plays.

Returning a punt for a touchdown only puts the defense back on the field quicker, let the offense score and give the defense a couple of minutes rest.

The purpose of shield punt is to allow your best players to have easier/more free releases off the line of scrimmage. You have to respect the Shield players and punter as a threat to run (which you saw this past week against aTm) with a rush rather than just blocking everyone up front. It’s hard to hold those guys in place long enough to keep them from getting into coverage. So, in order to generate a positive return you need to create a bad punt or hope that the kicker “out kicks” his coverage. The game has changed in this area pretty drastically since the advent of the shield and therefore has all but eliminated the consistent big return

He is very cautious and tentative, particularly since the Auburn muff. I doubt we see him change this late.
They should have let Palmer have more chances when games were safely put away.

He hasn’t had a good return since Georgia Southern. I think Rakim Jarrett takes that job next year

Y'all are always wanting to had the keys off to someone who hasn't even had a practice with the actual team or played on this level. some of y'all are really dumb
