Sadly enough I record Astros games. I fast forward and just watch stros bat. Have watched every single at bat he has had.

He is not pulling the ball this season for some reason. Everything is up the middle or right field or on ground. Idk if they changed his approach or what. He used to groove fast balls now he fouls them off usually to right field. Someone who understands mechanics might could help explain that better.

In midst of 10 game hit steak. Usually one hit a game. Seems to be walking a good bit though. He will get hot eventually. His power numbers will also spike a bit once he breaks through

OP is getting ganged up on but I was wondering the same thing. He started really slow but seems to be getting hotter and it's only a matter of time until he gets hot. Nobody is doubting that he will have a good season and great career but he has started out slow. Compare his numbers to the guy drafted one spot after him.

Andrew Benintendi
STATS AVG HR RBI Runs Hits OBP
2017 .322 5 20 21 39 .387

Alex Bregman
STATS AVG HR RBI Runs Hits OBP
2017 .262 0 7 10 28 .355

I will state again that I am not trashing Bregman. I am a huge fan and know that he will have a great career but it's not crazy to say he has started the season a little slow. He did the same thing last year then went on a tear.

That said, the guy drafted number one overall that year is having this kind of year so far.

Because these guys were drafted 1,2,3 in the same draft and all played shortstop in the SEC. They are going to be compared.

Benitendi wasn't in that draft and isn't a SS

He was in that draft and was drafted #7 overall(bad memory). I guess I was thinking he was a SS because my buddy that's an Arkansas fan has been talking shite about how much better Benintendi is than Bregman. Point still stands. His numbers, so far this year, are much more impressive and they were drafted in the same draft. Bregman will probably have the better career though.

ETA: I got thrown off because I remembered SS going 1,2,3 that year and that did happen but Benintendi was #7 overall.

This is one of the worst threads of all time, and I have lost a lot of respect for the human race in here

We are worried about a guy based on 1 at bat, with season averages be damned

He's hitting just fine, and I think he's seen the least amount of pitches on the team, which shows his aggressiveness at the plate.

I didn't say a word about him going back to the minors. The WBC answer has some merit for sure. I know he's raised his average lately but power numbers aren't there yet. Maybe it's just a slow start like we said.

Probably because he isn't a power hitter.

Hell yeah. He'll continue to improve his numbers. Nobody was doubting him and talking bad about him. Just pointing out that he hasn't played to his potential this early season. No doubt he'll have a good year.

Bartolo Colon is 85 years old but he can still spin it. He's not chopped liver. And in response to your question, it's a 162 game season. Bregman will be fine.

His BA is higher than Correa, Beltran and Springer's.
Why the concern?
