I thought the defense looked great, especially in the first half. Kind of wondered if Chavis was back in the booth late when the secondary let so many passes be completed. With a couple of interceptions it would've been a domination.

I'll hang up and listen.

Thought the D played great. Wore down as the Offense went conservative entirely too early, but they were dominant otherwise. Arden Key is a football god

I think we'll be fine. Who will we face with a better pass offense? Mississippi and A&M maybe.

If/when we make them one dimensional also, I'll like the situation.

Defense was tired towards the end, but that is a depth issue that O'Steele is fixing.

liking what I see thus far. Bower's a bit more stout at the point in the run game than I thought he'd be, but I do feel like we're kinda smallish on the edge.

on the whole though, a lot of encouraging stuff. Toliver and Key look great to be true freshmen, Beckwith is special, Debo's finally getting some snaps and making the most of it, Rickey Jeff is making the most of his chance to start.

if Duke gets more snaps than Louis (nothing against the kid, just never been impressed) when we do play a lot of base 4-3, I'll be ecstatic.

MSU has the ability to do this with their scheme. I'm not worried in the slightest

I am, however, worried about a thin d-line getting gassed as the offense reverts as soon as a small lead is built

optimistic, however we saw depth issues rear its head...something we knew about going into the season.

Schemes a lot of times are overrated.
Everyone is doing a lot of the same schemes and things on defense.
I thought the dline was motivated which hasn't been the case lately so huge props to O
I thought LB's looked more prepared as well even though they played more DB's
Depth is major issue and if they can stay healthy it will be a nice year and next year will be really good

It looks a lot like Chavis' scheme with a bit more zone mixed in TBH. The blitz packages are MUCH more creative though, and the zone is used mainly to mix it up on some of those blitzes.

The "prevent" defense looked almost identical on the final drive, but that could be because the Dline was gassed and getting zero pressure. I still think Steele was a downgrade, but if he's re-hashed Chavis' scheme, with the blitz twist added, he may work out pretty well.

I would have to disagree here.... Plenty of personnel changes and inserts. The biggest take away there though was, IMO, the major drop off in performance when players were subbed in (i.e. D Thomas).

They exploited an area around our linebackers on the short range, DL got winded, couldnt pressure dak as much

Eta: i think we should've ran some corner blitzes

Lining Godchaux up on the edge and stunting the corner to the inside to have Godchaux matched up with a TE or RB was a thing of beauty.

That's creativity I haven't seen from the LSU D in a very long time.

I was thinking the final score told us he was not in the booth

Jefferson is a baller, and I think Tolliver will be one of the best to come through LSU by the time he's finished.
I do like the DL - just hope they can keep up.
LB'ers mode

My take - SEC skeered.
